Women punched me on the bus

Bus today, peak hour, lots of people. I managed to get in and was simply standing because all seats occupied. Then, out of nowhere, one lady punched my shoulder (I had cyst removed from my back last Wednesday, almost peed myself from pain as she punched straight to wound). I turned my head around and said- " stop touching me " .And then- suddenly she became so upset as I'm " younger generation ", "have no respect to elderly person ",etc. (She is 50-55years old).
Yes, you should open your mouth and say-" excuse me "!!!! I had no idea who was behind my back as bus was completely packed.

Do you experience something similar, especially in London? Funny thing, I know that lady, she passing my street every morning when I'm leaving for work and I really thinking to tell her off tomorrow as I had to clean my bleeding wound because of her!

Really sorry this happened to you 💐 There are some total nutters about.

Swonderful · 17/07/2025 09:25

How do you know she punched you if she was behind you? She could have elbowed you turning around or stumbled and hit you accidentally.

housethatbuiltme · 17/07/2025 09:27

Do you experience something similar?

Yes, I from the north and been to London about half a dozen times.

First time I was in my early teens like 13 maybe early 14 and went with my mam. I was just walking through the market and a young woman power walking the opposite direction probably about early 20s walking the other way lifted her hand and punched me with some kind of big metal ring (knuckle dusters type thing but probably only a fashion version) as she walked past... absoloutly no reason for it.

She didn't even react (neither did anyone else who saw BTW, people reacted like it was completely normal) and just carried on in her stride as if I was a ghost she just walked through I stood their agog with a dead arm (which came up in an impressive bruise).

Its my key memory of my first impression of London and one of the ones that reminds me why I bloody hate the place. Although every trip there has had negatives and I have zero urge to ever return again.

Isxmasoveryet · 17/07/2025 09:32

Prob an accidental nudge as can happen on public transport blown out of proportion

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 17/07/2025 09:32

Twist it round and imagine you had punched her. You'd be hauled into a Police Station kept in a Cell over night and be facing charge not to mention going viral all around the World for punching someone I wouldn't go as far as to say elderly but a good few years your senior oh and also losing your job. I'd be reporting it!

LBFseBrom · 17/07/2025 09:49

No, I have not experienced anything like that - and I'm old, and in London. I do experience a lot of grumpy, bitter old people but that is nationwide. I think younger people are great.

This woman was rude and stupid.

Put it behind you, most are not like that.

AutoCorrupt · 17/07/2025 09:54

I don’t understand why you told her to “stop touching me” when you said she punched you. If someone punched me that would not be a phrase I used. Are you sure she did punch you, maybe everyone is standing close together and got jostled/fell into you? From how you worded your response it just sounds like she was standing too close to you but maybe she thinks you were standing too close to her if she was there first.

CaptainFuture · 17/07/2025 09:56

I wonder if all the apologists and sympathisers for the woman who struck op would have same views if it had been a male who'd hit her?...
'Poor chap... he was just trying to get past you'....etc.

zanahoria · 17/07/2025 09:58

I have never been punched on a bus, although have been on some in London where it would be impossible to even swing one

50-55 is not elderley OP, in case you have to describe her to police.

That’s how the woman described herself.

Motomum23 · 17/07/2025 10:05

Sounds more like she was reaching for a grab rail and accidently caught you- n which case shouting 'don't touch me' would have come across as completely unreasonable.

ShallIstart · 17/07/2025 10:18

Buses are awful in London. Full of absolute weirdos. Sorry OP, I probably wouldnt apporach her again as she sounds insane.

Blank1234 · 17/07/2025 10:29

Why did you say “stop touching me” if she punched you? Why not say “ow” or “why did you punch me” or “ ow, that hurt” or anything similar? I honestly can’t understand why you said stop touching me if it was a punch and actually hurt?

Colliemad79 · 17/07/2025 10:31

Bet she didn't even punch you.
I'm thinking she accidentally hit you because the bus was packed and you've blown it up into something huge cause well I'm not being rude but your generation can't really handle much.

Colliemad79 · 17/07/2025 10:33

Hence why you said ' stop touching me' instead of calling her out on punching you.

TheNumberBlocks · 17/07/2025 10:35

I got kicked in the stomach on a bus in London, what happened was they got on the bus with their dog. I had a bag with chicken in as I was sitting down the down made a beeline for me so it was eye level with me, I moved the bag over slightly and they went with their dog to the back of the bus calling me every name under the sun saying their dog doesn’t want my chicken etc calling me an fing bitch I literally just moved the bag slightly, I did shout back at them as I wanted to defend myself, then as I went to get off the ran at me and kicked me in the stomach. People can say others wouldn’t ignore but they certainly did and even the driver said nothing, I was with 3 young children.

TheFallenMadonna · 17/07/2025 10:35

I'm 54 and simply cannot imagine someone my age describing themselves as elderly unless in jest.
I can't imagine punching a stranger either mind you...

When she’s passing your street every morning… will your hosepipe stretch far enough? I think the hosepipe bans can be excused here

Edited

😆 🤣 😂

That is rude and an ageist generalisation.

Nearly50omg · 17/07/2025 12:48

If you know where she works I’d ring there and ask to speak to the boss and describe the woman to him and ask him to pass her details to the police as she assaulted you on the bus

I have never in my life seen someone just punch someone on a bus out of the blue, randomly.

I don't think it's clear exactly what this woman did or why - and the fact that OP had a wound there already would have made it more sensitive to any jostling, or maybe it was more of a push than a punch (still not OK, but context and a full explanation is helpful).

The woman might have been unsteady, worried about falling over herself, unable to grab something etc.

We don't know.

Never in my life have I seen anyone murder anyone. Does it happen? Of course. What a ridiculous thing to say.

Oh and I was also punched on the bus once by a drunken woman with kids. Apparently I looked at her funny. It absolutely does happen

Are you always such an utter twat or just today?

That’s not being a twat 😂😂
I agree, as in my post above. If OP had been punched, why turn around and say don’t touch me? You’d at least say ow, or what are you doing, or you hit me, or something along those lines! You certainly wouldn’t say stop touching me 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫
