Does anyone know what you are required to do generally in an nhs admin excel and word test?
Thanks

Typing speed accuracy, creating a graph in excel. Maybe look up how to do the more obscure things in word like watermarks, mail merge. All things I remember from my NHS admin days but that was about 15 years ago.

Good luck.

If you’re not confident in Word and Excel are you really suited to an admin role?

FirstNationsEnglish · 16/07/2025 09:36

As somebody has already said: typing speed and accuracy. Being able to extract data, create a graph, and also knowledge of formulae. All of it basic stuff, nothing 'advanced' unless it is for a specific role other than general admin.

It's reasonable and sensible for OP to ask about and brush up on the most likely Word and Excel skills in her prospective role.

Thanks for the helpful responses.
Yes, agree it’s reasonable for me to ask!
Good advice, so far- any more appreciated :)

They are usually looking for a good degree of accuracy and knowledge, but especially at a B2 role, they won’t be looking for expert knowledge of either word or excel.

sunnyraincloudday33 · 16/07/2025 21:10

Thanks- my accuracy is good and I just need a bit more practice in Word/ Excel.
Does anyone know of any online tests in these?

I'm sure you'll find some useful videos on YouTube or tiktok.
