Bathing with my three year old

I’ve been having a bath with my DD since she was born, but she just turned three and is saying come in with her. I wouldn’t mind but I don’t think it’s appropriate anymore?

Why isn't it . She's 3

Pollqueen · 15/07/2025 19:19

I can't see anything wrong with this at all

AnneLovesGilbert · 15/07/2025 19:20

Why would it be a problem?

Nix32 · 15/07/2025 19:20

Nothing wrong at all. I bathed with mine until they got so big we ran out of room.

sunshineside · 15/07/2025 19:27

Ahh nice :)
Ok that’s the response I was hoping for.
I’m not sure why, something just told me it was inappropriate 🤷‍♀️

Totally fine and normal. I also think it’s healthy for children to grow up seeing normal bodies

Katemax82 · 15/07/2025 19:28

I bathed with my kids until they were 6

MrsMillyFluff · 15/07/2025 19:38

My dds and I shared a bath till oldest DD was 8. It's a totally natural thing to do, the only reason we stopped was we couldn't fit in together 😁

Shitwithsugar · 15/07/2025 19:39

Our children bathed with DH and myself until they wanted to be on their own aged about 9.
They are in their 40's and have good memories of the baths.

User0ne · 15/07/2025 19:52

It's appropriate while your child still wants it and you're still happy with it.

Be sure she'll tell you when she wants her privacy. In the meantime it'll be good for her to learn what a "normal" adult female body looks like

Unicornsandprincesses · 15/07/2025 19:53

My DD still gets in the shower with me sometimes, she’s 5!

though she’d much prefer to read in her room most of the time now and then get in when I’m done.

LittleCosette · 15/07/2025 19:53

I showered with my six year old today. Easiest way to do hair is to wash both of ours together

AlligatorTears · 15/07/2025 19:54

My 10 and 12 you still hop in with me sometimes if I’m taking too long!

MouldyCandy · 15/07/2025 20:00

Another one who did it until about age 9. I just love the time together - but there are only so many bubble bath "cupcakes" you can make / "eat"!

Zanatdy · 15/07/2025 20:01

Absolutely, she’s only tiny.

Allswellthatendswelll · 15/07/2025 20:01

I bathed with DS who was 3 and a half ish every night when I was pregnant with DD and it was so nice. We'd talk about the baby in my tummy lots.
It's harder now with 2 but I still will bath with him if I can.

Gogobabyshark · 15/07/2025 20:02

I’d say it’s appropriate until the child indicates they don’t want to anymore. I will always be led by them

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 15/07/2025 20:07

I had a bath with DD until we physically couldn’t get in the bath together. Lovely memories.

DryDay · 15/07/2025 20:08

Completely fine!

My adult daughters and I still sometimes perch on the loo for a natter while one of us is in the bath.

aRightNowProblem · 15/07/2025 20:17

Another who agrees it’s more than fine! Shes 3 and she is your daughter!! When it doesn’t become fine is when they aren’t comfortable with it anymore but you continue doing it, I’m sure that won’t be for years yet; so just follow their lead.

Fatiguedwithlife · 15/07/2025 20:49

I still get in the bath with my eldest who moved out three years ago so don’t ask me haha!
My eleven year old son would gladly hijack my bath which I do discourage but also domt want to shame him or make him think bodies are weird/dirty etc. We have a very open and relaxed attitude to bodies and nudity, but my kids know that their bodies are their own and about safety and privacy.

They still like to bathe with their mum though (I personally would rather have peace and quiet!)
