WIBU to offer money for free fb marketplace item?

Posting here mainly for traffic as it’s very soon.

Picking up a useful household item later from someone on fb marketplace. It’s free but would it be weird of me to offer to transfer her £5 as a thank you? I have no cash and don’t have time to find a machine to lift some, but feel bad having it for nothing as I will find it very useful and would have had to buy one anyway.

Of course you can offer, but they'll likely decline, I know I would and would be glad my item had a new home. Cash would have been easier for them to accept.

Hope the item is as expected for you.

I gifted something the other day and they left me some chocolates which was lovely. What about doing that? I wouldn't taken cash or given them my bank details!

If someone was to pick up a free item from me and then asked for my bank details I wouldn’t be handing them over.

If I give something away on FB it's partly out of generosity, but mainly because I just want someone to take it away so it's not in my house any more. She probably thinks you're doing her a favour!

That’s exactly what I thought @Coconutter24

For a £5, I would not be sharing my bank details with a stranger.

I’d just say thank you are you sure you don’t want £5 transferring (mainly to be polite 🙈) and they will probably decline anyway

Pay it forward

I've bought and been given flowers or a small box of chocolates as a thank you for free items on FB. Can you grab something on the way to collect?
