To think 20 weeks without taking any annual leave is too long?

I work a very busy/stressful job in professional services. Due to various reasons both in my control and outside of my control, I haven't been able to take any time off for a break for 20 weeks.

I work a weekend maybe once a month (on top of 5 days in the office) and the last extended period I had off was the weekend and two bank holidays for Easter, where I went to a cousin's (Indian) wedding for all of it.

AIBU to think this is too long without a break? DP thinks its fine, but after about 12 weeks without a break I start to notice my performance dropping a lot.

I never take off any time between Christmas and Easter, so that’s easily 12 weeks. In fact, sometimes I don’t take a holiday until May or even June.

Personally I feel the quality/length is more important. I can happily go 3-6 months without leave if I’ve got an amazing holiday to look forward to. I always take 2-3 weeks in one go so it’s a decent chunk of time to actually disengage from work/life admin and recharge.

I couldn’t go 20 weeks without a break. I’m at about week 10 and can already feel I’m flagging!!

My absolute limit is around 10 weeks to be honest. I find that's about right for me to be at my best. I'm rarely ill, haven't had to take any sick leave for nearly 2 years & I firmly believe its because I make sure I take leave as regularly as I can.

No i was self employed and worked out that for 10 years I worked over 340 days a year. Twice when I had a "proper job" in insurance I took all my leave in January to travel to see family and so worked basically 47 weeks without leave...first time I was a claims manager with 90 staff and spending over £100m a year.

I basically take mine all (apart from a handful of days for any emergencies) at the end of December going into January. A huge chunk off revitalises me more then days off here and there.

Self employed so day off is a bank holidays only. It’s gruelling
