@BusWankers. I’ve got a car with a digital radio but that doesn’t mean that I’ve listened to streamed music - I always listen to talk radio when I’m driving.

The radio in our car doesn’t work! I think we might be offending Wanker’s sensibilities 😁

That's just a distraction on the way to the meatballs and lingonberry jam.

I've never been on a package holiday.

They do Finn Crisp snacks now too. You can’t buy them anywhere but in store. Me and do bought 20 packs last time we went,

I think we bought a shelf too.

How have you got to adulthood and not once even stepped inside a religious building... church, synagogue, mosque etc?

Weren't you ever taken to Christmas carols anywhere remotely religious...? Never been to a wedding if any sort? Never been on school trips to a Hindu Temple or Mosque or Synagogue to broaden your religious education... Never once visited a cathedral... not even a village fete where the refreshments are served in the church hall kitchen... Never been to an evening club like pilates/slimming world/art course held in a church hall?

Edited

It really isn’t that remarkable. I’m mid 40’s and religion has never touched my life at all.

I went to a non religious school so can only recall Christmas carols in the school hall. Certainly no church visit.

Schools didn’t do trips to religious places.

Parents not in the slightest a bit interested in religion so never christened or anything like that.

Most friends haven’t bothered getting married and this that did used registry offices.

Local events are at village halls which aren’t connected to churches.

Religion just doesn’t factor at all in my life. It’s not that I’ve actively tried to avoid it, it has just not presented itself to me and as a result I have absolutely no interest in it whatsoever.

You don’t have to be religious though to enjoy and be interested in architecture, do you? Think of all those glorious cathedrals you’ve missed?

@AngryBird6122 i love chocolate but wet, watery chocolate doesn’t appeal…

I love chocolate normally, but having tried hot chocolate once, I can confirm that it's absolutely disgusting.

Things I have never done and never want to do:

Take illegal drugs
Have a tattoo
Watch a James Bond film
Vote Labour

Things I have never done, but might want/need to do in future:

Visit Australia
Food shop online
Sail a boat

maras2 · 14/07/2025 08:16

Flown.
Watched The Sound of Music.
Eaten veal.
Many more things probably but at the age of 72, I've forgotten more stuff than I remember. Smile

AngryBird6122 · 14/07/2025 08:30

sone of these surprise me so much!

btw, although 99% of you got that I meant things you had never done that most people have, perhaps I should have put that in the title

They don't have adverts or jingles in this talk radio then?

Ermmm.... Mumsnet is Social Media!

So ,yes you've definitely seen it!

Ok if we are being pedantic.. I've been on anonymous forums and WhatsApp groups but have never seen the mainstream social media apps that include photos, videos and involve creating profiles. I've never seen
Facebook
Instagram
Tik tok
Etc

Well, people are weirdly proud they live in some archaic era that they deny reality. It's weird.

Well, indeed..

You can be interested in history and visit a monastery.
You can be interested in seeing the ruins of an old church.
You could see some local art/crafts/exhibition etc in these places.

You can go on interesting history tours

Seems an odd flex to say that you've never entered a single religious building 🤷‍♀️

SushiDisco · 14/07/2025 08:52

Then I suggest avoidance of religious venues won’t feature on your list of things you’ve never done.

It’s not a flex but is something that I assumed was different to most people’s experiences which is presumably what this thread is about.

Been bitten by a bear

I’ve never been bitten by a bear, either, but I know the rules to avoid if imminent, according to what sort of bear it is: if it’s brown, lie down; if it’s black, fight back; if it’s white, say goodnight.

BeachPossum · 14/07/2025 09:03

I was taught this when working in America but the fact that brown bears can be black and black bears can be brown made it a less than helpful piece of advice
