Will the podiatrist be shocked by my nails?

I have involuted nails and suffer terribly with ingrown nails. I go to a podiatrist that I know but would like to see someone closer to home.

I still have the remainder of gel nail polish, assume I need to get this off?.

One big toenail is in a bad way. My current lady cut a big chunk off and it’s grown terribly crooked and I’m afraid may be fungal as part of it is very thick and lifted away from my foot, current lady said it wasn’t last time I went but I worry.

I am disabled and cannot reach to keep on top of the cutting.

please can anyone put my mind at rest. Will they have seen worse?

Of course they will! Just be clean

Absolutely! This kind of issue will be their bread and butter.

I promise you they will have seen worse. They’re professional and will probably relish the challenge of sorting your feet out. Just make sure they’re as clean and fresh as it’s possible to be in this weather. Hope it goes well 😀

No one with healthy perfect toes is seeing a podiatrist really.

Your podiatrist will be very familiar with and not fussed by nails etc. Most do require that nails are clean and gel/polish free beforehand.

I’m not clear if you’re using a salon pedicurist as well as a medical podiatrist but I would think you need to put the cosmetic on pause for a while to get your feet get back into shape, in particular no gel polish!

Most patients I see for the first time worry their feet are the worse I’ll have seen, you’re not alone with that fear. But from what you describe you have very normal feet for most people who visit a podiatrist. Try not to worry, whoever you go to nearer home will not bat an eye at your nails. I hope they help you get your involuted ones under control without too much bother.

I’m sure they see worse on a daily basis! People wirh perfect feet don’t usually need a podiatrist. You could get your polish removed at a salon beforehand if you’re able to get to one?
