Does anyone know what other proof you can provide, when applying for child benefit?

I'm adopting and won't have an adoption certificate for several months

A letter from the social worker who is looking after you might be sufficient? I'd start by asking them how it all works.

Letter from Local Authority / Adoption Agency confirming date 9f placement. Your adoption worker should have this in hand.
