I’m waiting - threads when the OP doesn’t return

I have a new rule. If the OP doesn’t come back, I don’t bother. I say ‘rule’; more of a guideline. There are so many ploppers right now.

Obviously I plan to post once and never return. Bwahahahahaha.

It’s infuriating. Just don’t bother thinking carefully about any advice or response, they rarely return, and 90% aren’t even genuine anymore.

It is driving me a bit nuts - probably need to find a different forum.

I usually just assume it was a bot / troll or OP didn't like the tone of responses and flounced.

I wonder if they are genuine threads. I'm noticing more and more of them, and often can be quite controversial

Yes. If a thread has just 1 post by the OP, I move on. It's pointless to read dozens of posts when the OP hasn't bothered to engage further 🤨

This bugs me too. Some of the replies are so carefully crafted and thought through (I dont mean mine) and I find it sad when it transpires that the OP is rude, childish, a bot / troll.

Agreed, but the recent Teddies one was funny so there are sometimes exceptions 😁

That’s the question. I assume they are 99% fake. And more and more I’m assuming bot/AI.

These days, if I see a long running thread, I check to see if OP has returned before I bother to contribute.

Meh. If the thread is specific to the OP then it’s pointless without them, but if it’s a more general discussion it’s fine to debate with other posters.

I think it’s sad that these days on here, I read a post and very, very often think it’s probably completely made up.

I will read the OP but will most likely close it again if there is no "see next" from the OP. I don't want to invest in a thread where there's no follow up. If it's an interesting OP I may "watch thread" so I can check in later to see if the OP has returned.

Agree, I've taken to simply filtering the OPs posts and if it hasn’t increased I don’t bother. It amazes me people still posting when the OP has five 1 post and disappeared!

Totally agree with all that's been said. I feel cheated if they never return.

They're under no obligation to return but it does leave you wondering.

I immediately consign them to "goady bollocks' or "bot farming for data " folder and ignore
if you are genuine and start a thread you can be arsed to respond

Sometimes it’s amusing to watch everyone pile on and give their two cents. Eventually the thread will derail and posters will bicker over something completely unrelated.

How do you filter the op's posts? If what hasn't increased ?

however, I wonder why people bother to continue to comment? At times there are four or more pages and yet the OP has never once returned. If this is what you do, can you tell us why?
