Just hung my washing out at 11pm and there was a spider in wait on the line

Does this prove Mumsnet is right about the dangers of spiders’ willies as well as washing being darked on at night? And am I being reckless to leave it out because I’d like a dry bra in the morning?

Proof!

ChocolateGanache · 11/07/2025 23:23

What the actual hell did you expect op?!! Madness.

Ellmau · 11/07/2025 23:24

How would you feel about a bra with a cobweb on it?

If it's just the bra, can't you dry it inside? It's so hot still I would think it would dry anywhere.

Myfridgeiscool · 11/07/2025 23:26

QED OP
good work

Hope your bra is dry in the morning

LevelUpDown · 11/07/2025 23:28

It’s ok, you’re not alone, I’m all for the washing getting darked on tonight

Squareroot · 11/07/2025 23:34

By tomorrow morning mine will have been out for two nights, double darked on. I half expect to find Vincent Price hiding in there when I get it in

Macadamia20 · 11/07/2025 23:36

Your bra would dry in the fridge in this heat. No no no to leaving it outside all night!!!

socialdilemmawhattodo · 11/07/2025 23:38

Can I just say there was him and his massive family behind him just gently waiting in line. Now luckily in my household, we love that, it's called cat entertainment,. My 2 Siamese indoor cats who are not normally that active, the spike, the chase, in the world capture, they love it, cat entertainment #done.

But then the spiders wouldn't have anything to wipe their willies on!

I always hang mine out overnight. It's like the washing fairies have been when I see it all hanging out next morning. Besides, the only thing that comes out of spiders willies is silk, everyone knows that.

Toottooot · 11/07/2025 23:39

If you’s see a spider on the washing line during the day do you really nae hang the washing out? 🙄

A spider in wait?

Shudder.....

Dry your bra indoors, mine just dried in a few hours on the shower rail.

clary · 11/07/2025 23:53

hahaha I did a load of washing this pm and hung it out 8.30pm; got it in 11pm DRY. No spiders.

Have had to hang out DD's work shirt as there isn't a clean one for tomrrow so hoping it is dry and spider free by 7.30am.

It will be darked on though, unfortunately.
But a quick shake and it should be as good as new...👍

Can’t actually believe after all the warnings on MN that you are allowing your unmentionables to be darked on and letting the spiders willies be allowed to be rubbed all over them! Shudder

😂😂😂

dentalflosser · 12/07/2025 01:35

I have a full line of white school shirts out right now at 1.30am.
Yesterday I did a load of washing and asked DH to put them on the line. He left them all night getting coated in spider penises and being darked on. When I went to get the washing in, I found DH must have had a tissue in his hoodie pocket so now the clean, dry, darked on washing has bits all over it.

DH is a twat.

outerspacepotato · 12/07/2025 01:49

Spiders have good times on night laundry? 😂

avignon1234 · 12/07/2025 02:24

It is 2.12 am, and I have left the washing out, after hanging it out far too late at 5pm. I made an attempt to bring it in about 8pm, but was still dampish, so have left it and to hell with the consequences. I actually moved some of the underwear closer to the house as practical Friday night drinker / jokers are probably more risky than spiders or darked on knickers. I realise in the mumsnet world I am taking some liberties here....

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 12/07/2025 03:34

I've just hung the washing out so it will probably get darked on, but I like to think that the spiders are protecting the washing from bigger scarier creatures so I can forgive the spiders getting all jiggy & wiping their willies on the washing.
And I like to think that the silk makes the washing even softer & apparently some spider silk has antibacterial qualities!

Question - who first came up with the darked on theory?

Think it was about 10 or so years ago but can't remember the mumsnetters name.

Maybe someone else can remember?

margegunderson · 12/07/2025 23:26

It was dry this morning, no Willie evidence and I wore it to Stevie Wonder in Hyde Park. He didn’t complain.

i was reliably informed spiders don’t have dongers, so that’ll account for the lack of evidence.

EyeLevelStick · 13/07/2025 07:52

Meh. The spiders and I have an agreement.

They live within the area boundaried by the inner frame and first lines on the rotary airer.

I hang my washing in their “garden”, removing any cobwebs that are in the way with a sweep of my hand, and I never ask what they are up to with their willies when I can’t see.

Works for us.
