So despite being flattened by the heatwave these last few days, I’ve still being enjoying my music and just got me wondering what everyone’s summer favourites are?!

I’ll start, so as a child of the 80s, mine is ‘Cruel Summer’ by Bananarama. So relatable growing up because my parents never took us on holiday ever so the school summer hols always felt torturously long and cruel because all my friends and cousins did get to go away and I was quite sad about that as a kid and this song as well as being so catchy was just perfect for me to hold a pity party to! 😅 And still resonates as an adult when you’re stuck in the office throughout most of the summer!

I'm loving all these tracks, some real memories embedded in some of them too! My addition would be Heatwave, Martha and the Vandellas. I was brought up in an area where Northern Soul/Motown/Station etc was a part of the lifeblood of the place and when I left school in the long hot summer of 1976 this was played non-stop!

Yes it is. Top ten in 1973. The lyrics are often contrived but it's a great piece of music. That seven-note piano phrase is the key!

Well, my now slightly tweaked and added-to summer playlist is definitely keeping my energy up at the gym, and should nicely see us through a long Scottish road-trip in a couple of weeks' time!
