DD has woken up this morning with chicken pox. She has had cold/flu symptoms for the last couple of days and woken up this morning with the rash. She is 19. She did have a mild case of chicken pox when she was little.

I have had a sniffly nose and headache the last two days. I also had mild chicken pox as a child but did not catch it again when my children had it when they were smaller.

I work for the NHS. Not patient facing but in a hospital so obviously mingle with the public when going to and from office/canteen and in the lifts.

can I go to work? I feel fine but don’t know if there is a risk. I have no spots and assume I have immunity as have had it before but then so has DD.

thanks

i think you probably can

I think it's ok. You're immune, as far as you're aware.

can you speak to someone at work? I guess the department isn't open yet, but can you contact anyone outside work?

Not really, that’s the problem. I start at 7 and am the first one in my team in. Management etc don’t get in until 9.

my assumption is that it should be fine. I don’t have spots and assume I have immunity as I didn’t catch from the kids when they had it when they were smaller. Just doubting myself!

I would go to work, you have no reason to think you're contagious as you've already had chicken pox. Most people are immune as adults as well so low risk. Just be aware of basic hygiene

You could always wear a face mask in public areas if it makes you feel more comfortable x
