A Vinted Rant!

Sitting here packing up a pair of boots which I have to return at my expense because the utter muppet of a seller didn't think to point out that on one boot the leather panel next to the zip had been replaced with nice stretchy elastic 🙄meaning that I would have needed one calf at least 5 inches rounder for them to fit - pictures didn't show it and no mention at all of "oh I may have altered them slightly so they will only fit someone with an unfeasibly large right calf and a normal left"

I know its not a lot but sitting here seething at having to pay £5.00 to post something I would never have bought had I known and they were not cheap either.

I know Vinted can be a bit hit and miss but this is the first time I have had to pay to return something that has been wrongly described, I have had some absolute bargains, some utter shite (but only paid bobbins so not a huge issue to throw in the bin!) and the realisation that some people interpret "Very good" totally differently to the way I would.

Ok Rant over at least the courier companies win!

Don’t they have to pay or at least refund shipping if the item is not as described?
My DD bought a beautiful silk dress off Vinted. When it arrived it had a stain dead centre that was mirrored in the back (like someone had laid a leaky pen on it). She sent the seller photos of it. The seller offered immediate refund and said to keep the dress anyway. That’s what I would expect from your seller.

Me too but sadly they have asked for the item to be returned and I will only get a refund once the item is returned to them in good order.

Had it happen before and the seller was fabulous - offered a 50% discount and when I said sorry damage means the item won't stand up to use refunded in full and told me to dispose of the item - just grrrrr lol

That should be covered under significantly not as described.

Doggymummar · 10/07/2025 14:40

Yeah you don't need to pay postage. That's on the seller. Did you choose the right option? I am a Vinted seller and I always have to pay for returns, which ps me off as I describe very well but people find a tiny flaw to exploit.

Something weird is going on then as Vinted’s policy is that a buyer pays for any returns unless the seller voluntarily offers to pay. This is in their T&Cs.

Yep this is the message I got from them so paid the return postage - whilst seething and muttering😂

I never have as I just refund if anyone is unhappy, I'm don't want things back. Am I thinking I. eBay maybe? That's my biggest platform and I do accept returns but only for significantly not as described.

Zempy · 10/07/2025 19:24

I hear you.

I recently bought three men’s tops size M. When they arrived they are all size S.

I had to pay to return them, even though it was completely the sellers fault and the items were significantly not as described.

I am FEWMIN. I did complain but Vinted say it’s their standard terms and conditions.

Caveat Emptor as usual I guess.

You can't leave a review if you return the item
