To send DS to preschool tomorrow although he doesn’t want to go?

I am knackered. It’s hot and both children are tired and grumpy and I’m dealing with a lot of tantrums . I really am dreading tomorrow. Is it awful to put DS in preschool?

Why doesn't he want to go?

legoplaybook · 09/07/2025 17:40

If you don't have to I wouldn't, its going to be so hot.

Lmnop22 · 09/07/2025 17:41

I think you get to make decisions that are in the best interests of your family, not your three year old!

Sirzy · 09/07/2025 17:41

Why doesn’t he want to go?

Itshowifeelsboutit · 09/07/2025 17:49

He’s just outgrown it a bit and he does go four days a week.

Are you paying for it? If so why would you waste money by not sending him?

TheCurious0range · 09/07/2025 17:51

What's the temperature going to be? It's only 26 here, highest is 27 for the next week

Itshowifeelsboutit · 09/07/2025 17:51

No, it would be an extra. He doesn’t normally go Thursdays.

I'd take them somewhere air conditioned instead then if he doesn't go on Thursdays.

Littlemisscapable · 09/07/2025 17:57

Just send him.

DongDingBell · 09/07/2025 18:12

Instead of paying for an extra preschool session, I think I'd pay for softplay or swimming for both kids. Wear them out!
I think sending him in for an extra session when he already is vocal about not enjoying them isn't going to help with the grumpiness you are experiencing. Sorry. Not what you wanted to hear.

Itshowifeelsboutit · 09/07/2025 18:14

No I know … it’s hard to know what to do. Our local soft play is like the seventh circle of hell heat wise and I can’t go swimming because of the ratios.

Splash pad? Honestly though, I’d be tempted to send him.

SouthLondonMum22 · 09/07/2025 22:11

Of course it isn't awful, it's preschool.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 10/07/2025 07:00

Day off!

Itshowifeelsboutit · 10/07/2025 09:52

He’s home with me! So far hasn’t been too bad although I suspect we’ll go way over the recommended amount of screen time.
