To think there must be something that can be done for an aging face?

Anyone have any procedures done that have actually worked? I've had Botox and profilo. If you have any experience with polynucleotides or mid face fillers or micro needling with RF please let me know.

I need some volumising and some any wrinkle help (lower face).

If you are in the aging gracefully brigade or don't believe in cosmetic injectables this is not your thread.

Of course there are things that can be done! Lots of things! I'm early 50s and have never had botox or any 'work' done but I fully intend to have a facelift or something before I'm 60.

Ask for this thread to be moved to the Style & Beauty board and you'll get lots of informative responses.

Ooohh thanks, good call. I may just duplicate. Why are you waiting for a facelift and why nothing so far? Skincare alone working for you?

My mum had a facelift at 57 and and eye lift at 66. She looked amazing and no one had any idea. But she was very careful in her research for a good practitioner.

thenightsky · 08/07/2025 15:31

66 and have botox regularly. Tried Profhilo and it did absolutely nothing. Going to try Sculptra next.

Howtonamechange · 08/07/2025 15:38

I'm 37.regular botox.
I've had a bit of midface filler but very subtle volume replacement only 2y ago and tear troughs as well. I definitely need a top up as I feel like it's worn off.
I also administer filers/ tox and profhilo, polynucleotides. They're great if placed correctly and naturally and a thorough assessment and consultation is really important

I have been blessed with good skin so don't have issues with texture or lines/wrinkles (or at least nothing that tret hasn't helped with) I can't bear the idea of botox or any injectibles but have no qualms with surgery!! The main issue for me so far is sagging and so I feel that a lift will be the best course of action.

I get Botox, and filler for my marionette lines. Look sooo much better than I did, let’s say five years ago.

Yesterday had a treatment called Neofound which is basically like collagen and hyaluronic micro needling. Bit too soon to see the benefit but hoping it gives me a wee glow for a while.

I love getting stuff done; I feel I deserve to treat myself to whatever I want in my 40s 🙂

Ems235 · 08/07/2025 16:05

Aliaxin filler to lift the mid face, it's a bit more natural than traditional filler. Also profhilo, not a filler as such but does give healthy looking skin.

NotAntisocialJustSelectivelySocial · 08/07/2025 16:18

I saw someone on TikTok who had an 8 point facelift. It looks pretty good, and was around £500 iirc.

I’m contemplating profhilo, I had been researching co2 laser, which seems to work well but nervous as, knowing my luck, I’ll end up with some sort of scarring. There seems to be too many options now and I just don’t know what will be successful with least risks!

Ok thanks, how much filler in the mid face? Are you in London, recommend anywhere?

Already had profilo several times, no results anymore unfortunately.

I’m pretty much the same as the pp, I have Botox twice a year for my elevens but that’s it, I would rather save my money and have a full face lift before I’m sixty because nothing can get rid of the sagging face and neck apart from the surgeons knife.

Tret, botox, strategic filler, sunscreen and a really good face-lift around the age of 55/60 amis what my plastic surgeon friend advocates for.

She thinks people should only really get one face-lift, so save it for around that age. Also go easy on the fillers as it can do something to surgical results (can't remember what).

She's also a huge advocate for hydra facials done monthly. (but I could never afford that).

Yesss I don't think you can have a face lift if you get filler. Also...the down time for a face lift must be weeks/months no?

Where does one get tret? Strong retinol right?
Defo can't afford monthly hydra facials...they are lovely but the results are minimal I find.

I’ve had Olivia, which is similar to Sculptra in that it stimulates collagen. Not cheap but very pleased with the results so far. It will keep improving over the next few months.

Alltheburpees · 08/07/2025 18:04

Sorry that should read Olidia

In the UK you can get via Skin & Me or Dermatica. Alternatively if you know anyone going to Italy, Greece or Spain or Asia it's available from any pharmacy there and it's incredibly cheap.

You start off really slow, you don't want to go straight for the strongest option. It took me over a year to go from 0.025 to 0.05%. My skin won't tolerate 0.1% and I see good results with my current strength so have chosen not to go up. You have to listen to what your skin can handle.

I use every second night. You also have to be very careful about using actives (like acids) when starting out. You also need to protect your skin barrier.

If you do decide to use tret, then I highly recommend Vanicream moisteriser and cleanser which are easily available in the UK and free of irritants. Or if you can access it then Illyoon ato barrier lotion and Aestura essence are both amazing and they are what I use noe, layered.

I also now use Dr Dennis Gross Daily Peel Pads twice a week (cut in half and put back into their packets so only really using one whole pad a week) and I have to say the results from them were instant and absolutely incredible.

I wouldn't use them when starting out with tret, but I also wouldn't be without them now. They have cured my adult acne and faded old scars and I have such a healthy glow.
Tret is great, but the peel pads give you that satisfaction of instant, incredible results.

Sunscreen every day, no matter what, is crucial. Your skin will be much more delicate and you will get serious sun damage if you don't protect it. Basically it causes the cells to turnover more quickly, so they are more vulnerable.

Game0fCrones · 08/07/2025 18:11

Once past 55, the only option is a facelift (for mid, lower face and neck). Sagging skin needs lifting, not filling. Filling causes problems when trying to lift surgically (as does laser treatment and needling due to the scarring).

Be very careful with Sculptra because it keeps on 'growing' years after it's placed, leading to puffy/fat faces (see Tom Cruise & Nicole Kidman and numerous others).

SisforSusanna · 08/07/2025 18:11

I am 52 and have botox every 4 months and have fillers. I go to a really good clinic in London and it looks really natural, sort of me 5 years ago if that makes sense.

Apart from that I don’t spend any money on make up or skincare. I just use Nivea and a bit of Boots own make up. I think because I am so not vain, people don’t realise I have had anything done as I am the sort of person who hardly bothers to brush my hair☺️

Blarn · 08/07/2025 20:00

Has anyone used those electric current devices that work with light to supposedly lift your face. Im 40 and my skin is pretty good, have an 11 which I'm probably going to get botox for but it isn't really that bad at the moment. I was on some medication which caused a lot of weight gain but also made my face go puffy. My face looks like mine again but it's saggy around my jowls where the puffiness was! I'm wondering if there is anything that can make a difference?

amicisimma · 08/07/2025 20:22

I've never seen a face, of any age, that doesn't look loads better with a smile on it.

Conversely, a grumpy face, no matter how radiant the skin, not so appealing.

Tol85 · 09/07/2025 08:27

I've started morpheous 8. I've only had one session so far. I don't really have much wrinkles, but do have skin texture and rosacea. It's reduced the redness of my rosacea drastically and helped with texture after 1 session. Should look at Judy murrys before and after.

This is interesting especially about fillers interfering with facelifts. I didn’t know that.

My main issues are jaw sagging and eyelid droop, not sure fillers can do much for either anyway, so sounds like I’m best off waiting and doing surgery later. Suits me as I’m lazy and cba with the upkeep of fillers!

@WaitedBlankey would love to know your mum’s surgeon if you wouldn’t mind PMing me
