A future Reform government is looking more and more likely

The Tories ruined the country to such an extent that they are potentially finished, forever.

Labour, in the last year, have hit new depths of incompetence and stupidity.

Taxes are higher than ever and businesses are being destroyed under the weight of NI increases

Gilt yields higher now than under Truss

National debt at unprecedented levels and debt interested out of control

Food inflation nearing 10%

Top rate taxpayers leaving the country in their tens of thousands, a complete disaster given that the top 1% pay nearly a third of all tax

Welfare out of control with 1000 people a day going onto disability benefits

Illegal migration even worse than under the Tories

And the latest from Labour…..a deal with France to bring over migrants into the UK. Cue the outrage and noise about but yeah, they’re coming over anyway, it’s one in one out, it’s family connection only (like anyone is going to test DNA to prove family connections) yada yada yada. It’s not the point. The country does not need more pull factors. This is going to be a huge one. It’s practically going to turn illegal migration into legal, the idea being to massage the numbers.

Reform are being handed power on a plate by this shower. They couldn’t ask for a better campaigning outfit than this Labour government.

More likely that people will vote tactically to keep Reform out!

What a depressing state of British Politics eh? Not one party inspiring people to vote for them, only tactical votes to keep Labour/Tories/Reform out.

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 08/07/2025 13:05

Well, I'll likely be voting to keep Labour out. In my constituency that will be the Conservatives but if it were Reform - if things continue as they have over this last year and they continue to hobble businesses with their ideological sledgehammer- then, fuck it, I'll vote reform.

EasternStandard · 08/07/2025 13:05

PandoraSocks · 08/07/2025 12:58

Why if people view Labour negatively. GEs are often a chance to get the party out more than anything. If they’re not seen to be doing well.

I normally look forward to your posts on politics but this is pure flippant lefty navel-gazing IMO. Jenrick and those videos where he stands at a tube station pointing at people ignoring the barriers are getting through to an audience.

He's also been the most consistent anti-immigration Tory voice since Suella Braverman was relegated to the backbenches, and he plays better to the right-wing voters as he's a white chap with a short back and sides, not an eccentric beige woman.

Don't underestimate him. He probably should have won the Tory leadership and Starmer is getting an easier ride for the fact he didn't, but is too useless to take advantage.

You’ve just explained exactly why I detest Jenrick. If talent is defined by spitefully painting over a children’s mural in an immigration centre I despair. He’d fit perfectly into Reform and I have no idea why he hasn’t defected - still nurturing leadership ambitions I guess.

Fearfulsaints · 08/07/2025 13:02

I think its a real concern.
I wish there was someway to make people understand that thier "addressing immigration' plan isn't real..

The only thing that might scupper them is thier nhs plan..

Totally agree.
If labour ot Tory actually addressed the mass immigration issue, they would wipe the floor with reform.
But as they both are not listening....

S1K1PPSO · 08/07/2025 13:09

I'd spoil my ballot paper before voting for reform, because I'm not that stupid. I'm so disappointed with Labour and I'm sure I'm not alone there, but I wouldn't go and do the political equivalent of sticking my arse in the air in a thunderstorm just to show my displeasure.

IdaGlossop · 08/07/2025 13:15

It's possible, unfortunately. However, there are four years to go; people vote differently in general elections to local elections (they are less risk averse); Reform are already in disarray; Labour has time to improve (or get worse); and the Conservatives are not yet dead.

RockStrangeNight · 08/07/2025 13:17

Definitely think it’s possible. I mean come on, Trump has been in power twice - the unthinkable become reality! 🤣
Never underestimate the stupidity of people. Reform have found a current issue to base their own identity on (now that Brexit is done) and people that vote for them may not look too closely at their manifesto (or lack of) as a whole. Popular mood can do a lot of damage - again, you only have to look at the US.

GasPanic · 08/07/2025 13:20

I think Labour are going to fall apart.

The left of the party is sensing weakness at the top. The Starmer\Reeves partnership is in disarray and Reeves is already finished.

They want to get rid of Reeves and install their own candidate. Then it is the Deputy PM and Chancellor positions they hold. Basically surround your enemy.

Once this happens it will be a short time before Starmer is replaced.

Then Labour spend the country into ruin.

alexalisten · 08/07/2025 13:20

If reform get in people better have a big bank balance for their future health care needs

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 08/07/2025 13:24

I would never vote for Reform. But now I would never vote Labour either! Never voted Tory and would dream of it...
But I can't keep paying for everyone else... fed up with earning decent money and not having a penny left at the end of each month.

I never understood why there was a mural in the building at all. Anything like that is usually quite creepy and more likely to scare a child. And no I don’t like Robert Jenrick or Nigel Farage. I’m struggling to think of anyone I do like.

MoreDangerousThanAWomanScorned · 08/07/2025 13:29

Reform massively scrambled to find candidates for the last GE, and in the end only had to find 5 candidates for MPs who would be vaguely normal, not have to be removed when it turned out they had been disgustingly offensive online, and who wouldn't have a massive clash of egos with Farage. They didn't manage that: they couldn't work as a cohesive unit of 5. They were so desperate for candidates in the council elections that they ended up putting teenagers in charge in some areas. How on earth are they going to find enough viable candidates to form a majority government?

yellowspanner · 08/07/2025 13:31

Good. I hope Reform are able to form the next government. They will have my vote

Unless Boris comes back as leader of the Conservatives. If not for COVID he would conceivably still be our PM and we would have avoided Truss and Sunak.

It was Boris that opened the borders

Agreed, I think Jenrick currently sees the Conservative party as a better vehicle for his ambitions than Reform (plc.??). They are going through a dip in fortunes at present, but last time they lost an election it was to Blair who was dynamic, positive, and focused, this time around it's to Starmer who has a majority of 180 but still keeps giving in to his backbenchers.

I'm old enough to remember Black Wednesday which was the moment that sealed the fate of Major's government when they lost control of interest rates. His chancellor Norman Lamont wore the rigid white-faced expression of a man who had just sharted but was desperately hoping to retain his dignity. Even then, he wasn't actually in tears. I can't see any hope for Labour next time around.

I don't understand. Who do you think is currently paying for people's care needs and is on the hook to pay for a top heavy pyramid of older people's care needs? Baby Boomers are the richest generation and yet you think that the shrinking working population should pay for their care?

Anyone thinking that Reform will increase the money in their pockets is on a hiding to nothing. Just like has happened in the US with the so called "Big Beautiful Betrayal Bill", Reform will just redirect the money currently going to the most vulnerable, to the millionaires and billionaires.

bellamorgan · 08/07/2025 14:01

I think we will likely end up with Tories or a
Coalition Reform Tory government.

Reform got a lot of the Tory vote but there is a lot who now regret Labour so would vote tactfully Tory to keep out Reform while I think the silent reform voters who don’t go back to Tory are likely previous non voters and then a mix of disgruntled with other parties so a few from each.

Yeah, deffo. This is why bright murals are often painted on the walls at children's hospitals.

Manitou · 08/07/2025 14:03

Oh what a time to be alive!

Most people I know love Reform and will vote for them.

I can’t bring myself to vote for anyone.

I don’t think I’m alone in wishing there could be something different now that doesn’t pit everyone against each other and that’s somehow not corrupt. Completely sick of the way we have no real options that could lead to a better way of living.

The cost of private healthcare is not even close to what you pay in ni. Over a grand for an ambulance over 10k to have your appendix out

A future Reform government is looking more and more likely

Hi Nigel! 👋

I know this is a standard Labour post on here but the very low approval rating does actually reflect that list.
