Another testing of National Alert

AIBU to ask if people are aware: Apparently there is another test of the national Alert system happening in September. It’s crucial that people are aware it will happen especially those with some disabilities or in DV situations.

That is a very niche situation. Turn off the phone during the tests?

I know you can opt out on some phones. Mine is not one of them.

It was about as much use as a chocolate teapot since it had been all over the news and social media for days and everyone already knew by the time they decided to sound the alarm on the alert system.

People leave a huge digital footprint most days including a trail of cookies. A simple alarm is not going to place anything on your phone.

You know i was thinking of them "keeping us safe" today and it struck me that they are all for keeping us safe.............when it doesnt cost them anything. In the summer they are happy to take the risk of ppl getting heat stroke. Air con is treated like a dirty phrase in the UK
In the winter the pavements arent gritted when they are icy. I live opposite a school and watched a young child slip and smack his forehead on the pavement in December 2022 Oh yes all for keeping us safe when it doesnt cost anything.

We did. That was storm Eowyn in January, all the schools were closed, and shops, and we got a warning not to travel.

I think you should get rid of your phone immediately the government will be tracking your weekly trips to Tesco and dont forget to post on Facebook first about how the government's out to get you to warn everyone else.
