Maybe they aren’t great at acting, maybe you love them for nostalgic reasons or because they seem like a great person IRL!

Nicky was adopted himself so he truly understands what some of them are going through.

I really like the toned down, less crayzee version of Davina too. Wish she could be like that on all her shows.

Nicky has been through so much in his life but comes across so sweet and kind. I've always liked Davina ever since her 1st fitness dvd. She got me into fitness & out of my pnd

Rosie Marcel (Jag Naylor in Holby city) I loved her character, I think she’s beautiful and now she’s “retired” from acting she spends her life rescuing dogs…what’s not to like?

IanStirlingrocks · 08/07/2025 22:01

Oh also Michael Spicer (room next door) I’m not a laugh out loud, spit my tea out type person but I have properly laughed at his videos.

The one that surprises me the most is Jane McDonald 🫣. She just seems to embrace the naffness that surrounds her and I respect that.

I love Jane McDonald! Her song covers at the end of some of her cruise shows remind me of the music video send ups that they used to do on Smack the Pony and I am totally here for that 😂

He really does. He's so always been so lovely and non judgemental when he's written about his birth mother.

The moment he was revealed as being one of the masked singers and Davina ran on stage to hug him had me 😥 (it's on YT if you've not seen it).

Clive Myrie the BBC newsreader and war correspondent. He just comes across as a lovely, calm professional guy .

I really like Clive Myrie, too.

He has a lovely voice, and he often seems to be on the brink of chuckling.

Oh and Henning Wehn. I'm sure it's all an act but he comes across as incredibly earnest and likeable, even when joking about awful things.

Henning is sometimes really rude to the audience, and says a lot of negative things about British people - and he gets away with it! They still love him.

Me! Too loud, obnoxious, always had to be the centre of attention. I could go on but it would be mean spirited.

I also developed a crush on Steve Pemberton when he was on Taskmaster (and Nick Mohammed who was on the same series as him). I think Reece Shearsmith is on the next series so I might end up with a crush on him too.

I'm quite fond of Nick Mohammed. I've seen him live twice (as Mr Swallow). The first time was quite a few years ago in Edinburgh. The show was in a small room and Jimmy Carr was sitting near me in the audience, laughing.

Nick's more recent show was in a much bigger venue. Mr Swallow is an odd bod for sure, but once several jokes had had the chance to build on each other, it was extremely funny. I and many of the people around me were in hysterics.

Nick can also act and play the violin.

Russell Howard, the comedian. He just comes across as a really nice guy.

Paolo Nutini as he’s a family friend.

Jonny Vegas because he’s apparently the nicest comedian on the circuit (or so says a friend’s husband whose job it is to book the acts!).
The worst may well surprise you! …

Haaaaa love the Paolo Nutini name drop. He is a dude though.

I’m a new fan of Bono after seeing his brilliant one-man performance on AppleTV. A lot of the comments on the YouTube trailer are from people who’ve met him, and he sounds really lovely.

Also Simon Cowell on Diary of a CEO - who knew! What a thoroughly lovely person - he came across so much better than people I really expected to like, like Jimmy Fallon and Seth Rogan, who seemed just a bit ‘off’ for some reason.

Through words, music, and mischief, Bono pulls back the curtain on his deeply personal experiences that have shaped him as a son, father, husband, act…

We still very often sing his (Mr Swallow's) Jurassic Park theme, never fails to raise a smile at the very least.

Electric fence is no defence, for a dinosaur with teeth.
And Jeff Goldblum warns of the dangers posed, then he goes and breaks his knee.
It's Jurassic Park, it's a massive park.
What could possibly go wrong!
