Maybe they aren’t great at acting, maybe you love them for nostalgic reasons or because they seem like a great person IRL!

I complained in the other thread about people not understanding the difference between irrational and rational - liking a beloved character like David Attenborough is not considered controversial by any stretch, but liking Peter Andre, maybe 😉.

I have a real soft spot for Donny Osmond. I can't even explain why.

namechangetheworld · 08/07/2025 18:57

Oh and Henning Wehn. I'm sure it's all an act but he comes across as incredibly earnest and likeable, even when joking about awful things.

We love Henning in our house.
Anytime he's on the WILTY panel you know it's going to be a great show.

I also developed a crush on Steve Pemberton when he was on Taskmaster (and Nick Mohammed who was on the same series as him). I think Reece Shearsmith is on the next series so I might end up with a crush on him too.

Reece Shearsmith was so funny in Car Share and the outtakes are bloody hilarious. He comes across like a right laugh!

Arran2024 · 08/07/2025 20:09

James Norton. Nice guy vibes

I’ve spent the past year trying to convince my DH that whilst flying anywhere domestically in the US is extortionately expensive……DC3 getting into Dollywood for free kinda cancels out the cost of her flight from where we live to Tennessee so really it’s the best value holiday we are going to get 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️😂😂
He just says he’d rather wait until we are back in the UK, and have a week all inclusive somewhere for half the price…..and I guess he’s right. But I also don’t think you can put a price on Dollywood 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Go! I've been to Dollywood and the best bit is the cabins you stay in. Ours had three floors with a hot tub on the balcony of the top floor. Heaven

beguilingeyes · 08/07/2025 20:14

Haven't quite got over her miming at Glastonbury though (Dolly).

ConnieHeart · 08/07/2025 20:18

Candida from Pulp. Adore her

It's context-specific but really love Davina McCall and Nicky Campbell in Long Lost Family- they are each so sensitive, kind and quiet at the important moments. They never make the show about themselves. I had no particular view about them before LLF, but I watch it now for their masterclass in empathy.

ItsFridayIminLoveJS · 08/07/2025 20:41

Jason Manford.. we go to see him every year... brilliant comedian.. but also down to earth.. does loads of things for people for free.. setting up padel and sports clubs... just meeting joe public for a game of padel if he's in their area.. going to the local pub where he's doing shows and joining in with the karaoke..
In lock down he picked up old people for free and took them to their appointments or took shopping to them
Plus l think he's bloody handsome! Going to see him again this Autumn.

Nicky was adopted himself so he truly understands what some of them are going through.

I really like the toned down, less crayzee version of Davina too. Wish she could be like that on all her shows.
