To ask where we should go on honeymoon in late March / early April

From London, with only a week available!

I previously started a thread asking about Indonesia and posters convinced me the flight isn't worth it!

We would like to go somewhere culturally interesting with good food (catering to vegetarians also), but to be able to stay in a very luxurious hotel where we can have a big bathtub, great spa treatments, and the ability to be very relaxed.

Tulum, Mexico

I was going to say Las Vegas but doesn't come under culturally interesting just fascinating. Luxury hotels with good spas though. Huge variation in food too.

OrangeCrushes · 07/07/2025 11:16

I am not currently visiting the United States, but Las Vegas probably isn't my vibe anyway! Thank you for the suggestion 😊

Tulum, Mexico

I haven't opened my mind to Latin America for this trip. Maybe I should consider it.

Sicily

Will Sicily be warm then?

Venice or Florence?

Ultravox · 07/07/2025 11:19

Morocco?

InveterateWineDrinker · 07/07/2025 11:19

Mauritius will just be coming to the end of the summer at that time of year. Hotels there are absolutely excellent - food is incredible too.

minnienono · 07/07/2025 11:22

I would look at Italy, specifically Sicily - it’s a long way south so gets warm earlier. I can’t recommend a specific hotel but Taormina has a very classy feel, it’s where they hold the film awards (we happened upon them) lots of lovely little restaurants and bars for people watching. Lots of vegetarian options as Italy is good for it.

Newnameformenow · 07/07/2025 11:22

Average temp in Sicily acc to met office 22.C , so depends how hot you want it.

Jane958 · 07/07/2025 11:30

Leopard Beach Hotel, Kenya, flight is just about long-haul, but there is not much time difference (around 2 hours) so no real jet lag either way.
Somewhere on the Red Sea such as Soma Bay?

PeapodMcgee · 07/07/2025 11:31

Do you want hot? Otherwise Iceland or Nordic

AdaColeman · 07/07/2025 11:54

Venice, plenty of luxury hotels, and the city shouldn't be too crowded at that time of year.
Crete is another idea, though Greek Orthodox Easter is 12th April and many see that as the start of the season in Greece.
Bilbao or Lisbon both excellent for culture.

MissAmbrosia · 07/07/2025 11:57

Seville or Malaga - look for a lovely hotel

OrangeCrushes · 07/07/2025 12:00

@AdaColeman this will be over the two weeks Easter period. Wouldn't it be hot then???

Zanzibar, Cape Town, Goa

FeministThrowingAPrincessParty · 07/07/2025 12:06

Also Croatia - Dubrovnik and Split

AbzMoz · 07/07/2025 12:07

Istanbul - blue mosque, hamamm baths etc and superlative food
Stockholm - grand hotel has the best spa I’ve ever been to and a killer breakfast
Helsinki / Tallinn - cute ferry, picturesque scenery

a few years ago we did a city tour along the orient express route (not on the orient express!) and stopped off in a few of the major cities - Vienna and Budapest as highlights for the food and grand hotels

if resorts are your scene - 5* canaries, Morocco, Mexico…

We're having to take our family holiday next year at that exact time too and it too can only be a week. Mexico (the Caribbean coast) is the only place I can find that doesn't involve a ridiculously long flight and has the kind of facilities and temperatures that you/we need.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 07/07/2025 12:51

Swiss alps

CCLCECSC · 07/07/2025 12:53

Sri Lanka would be very nice at time of year and definitely suitable for vegetarians. Downside is flight time of 12h.

4naans · 07/07/2025 13:26

Goa, India. Stay at the Alila Diwa. It's beautiful. Amazing vegetarian food

I went to Sri Lanka in April a few years ago and it was amazing! But now that you mention it, I had some horrible flight issues as well and this made the first part of the journey needlessly stressful.
