Made me laugh. 'Secular reason' ffs!

pinkyredrose · 06/07/2025 17:36

'specular' even!

BreadInCaptivity · 06/07/2025 17:46

Well the reason is obvious…she wants it for her SM followers. Nothing at all to do with her child.

Sick of seeing people on SM monetise their children.

PeachyBeachyBoo · 06/07/2025 17:56

I work in University graduations. This is actually a really common request - some students try to sneak a baby/child across on the day. No one has ever gone to the press after a refusal! 😂
There’s always mad requests every year!

Yellowpingu · 06/07/2025 17:56

The entitlement and audacity of her! She’s lucky she got more than 2 tickets, nothing to stop the kid sitting with big brother and Daddy, the way all other children will be doing. I’m sure she could still get some ‘content’ without having him on the stage with her. CF.

Jellycatspyjamas · 06/07/2025 18:04

I’ve worked so hard to get here, but to be excluded and being told I can’t graduate the way I need to, I’m facing barriers.

FFS an utter conflation of wants and needs - nobody needs to walk the stage with their 3 year old. She’s not being excluded, she’s just not being given her own way.

What even is "specular"?

DramaAlpaca · 06/07/2025 18:08

How ridiculous

What even is "specular"?

Specular means having reflective properties, like a mirror. Edited to add, a ‘specular moment’ can also refer to narcissism

endingintiers · 06/07/2025 18:20

Didn’t even consider it for my graduation! Thought my youngest was too young at 3 to go and have their attention held and would spoil event for others / mean I didn’t get to celebrate my adult achievement without having to parent at the same time.

Well that sounds entirely appropriate and surprisingly insightful.

dayatthepark · 06/07/2025 18:30

Staggering! She's lucky she's been able to get tickets for her whole family. That's how they celebrate with her - just being there. They don't need to go on stage!

FreddysFingers · 06/07/2025 19:12

Absolutely ludicrous.

MaturingCheeseball · 06/07/2025 20:31

I couldn’t believe it. I think most students and their parents/supporters would be furious at some kid in a costume doing a TikTok with his mum.

I did laugh when a comment beneath the story wondered whether she was graduating in Entitlement Studies 😁

The degree should be withheld. Change the university regulations so it can be if anyone tries such nonsense in future.

Givenupshopping · 06/07/2025 20:41

Well it's got her all the publicity she wanted, so it's worked for her, hasn't it?

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 06/07/2025 21:03

Ffs, do not take your little kids to a graduation at all, even for doting parents,or partners, siblings, whatever, those fuckers are long and dull, little kids cannot cope with it(yes I’m looking at you, whoever brought their small children along to Man Met graduation last year, on our row, off to the loo, crying, shouting out”where’s Daddy?” every couple of minutes) As for hijacking everyone else’s day, just FO.
