Freaking out over referral to breast clinic

Hello I’m on the 2 week referral (referred Thursday so waiting on appointment) but wondered if people have had similar symptoms and what it ended up being? I’m losing my mind slightly- lost a parent 3 months ago to bowel cancer and had 3 close people diagnosed within the last 2 years (none breast although my nan died of it in her early 40s)

I was itching my boob so thought i would just check and noticed a raisin kind of lump left to my nipple which doctor has confirmed (it is mobile) she also wants my other one checked as she mentioned it seemed very dense- with the one that has a lump I’ve also noticed since my nipple is swollen kind of like what it’s like when you are pregnant? Slightly purple and very veiny- blue veins (almost making it look bruised) it feels very tender (again very similar to when you’re pregnant) but not tender where the lump is more in general. Did anybody have similar symptoms and if so what did it turn out to be? Cannot help but feel completely overwhelmed I know it could be something much less sinister but my mind is just going to worse case, nightmare!

Thanks

I’ve had x2 2ww referrals over the past 5 years for lumps / nipple changes both were nothing sinister. The problem with the NHS is that unless you are referred on an urgent 2ww the waiting list is too long so the clinician will always err on the side of caution. Hope it’s all ok OP

Most people referred have a benign issue. I was referred for a lump which turned out to be a benign cyst.
