Amazon prime video

I don't use Netflix because I don't like the films on offer so I use Amazon Prime. However my laptop charger is broken and I'm waiting for a new charger to arrive so I cannot use my laptop so I'm using my mobile phone for the internet instead. I started watching a film on Amazon Prime on my laptop and now I have logged on to Amazon on my mobile to continue watching the film. Usually when you do that on your laptop you click on the film and you click continue to watch and it will reload the film and you can continue watching the film. I clicked continue watching but it did not load the film and instead it took me to Google Play and I'm trying to work out if I have to download anything to get the film to load because it should just be simple click and play just like you do on your laptop but it seems to work differently on a mobile

Have you got the prime video app? If not that's ehy it's taking you into play store

rainbowunicorn · 05/07/2025 09:16

You need to download the Prime Video App if you don't already have it on your phone.

PerkyOchrePeer · 05/07/2025 09:24

I have just downloaded the prime video app so that I can watch prime videos. I just assumed that because you log into your Amazon account on your laptop and you can view prime videos through your Amazon account then the same would apply on a mobile but it doesn't work on a mobile through your Amazon account and you have to get the app now I know

H having looked into this further I think the Amazon Prime app is a con because I already subscribe to Amazon Prime on Amazon and with the app all the films that are showing up as prime films ask you to buy or rent the film you don't have to do that on Amazon because you're already paying for these subscription

If you go onto the computer to watch a prime video you don't have to pay anything for it because you're already paying a subscription to prime but you do have to pay on the app all the films on the prime app ask you to pay to watch and why should I pay for a prime video on the app when I'm already paying a prime video subscription and I wouldn't have to pay any more if I Look To through my Amazon account. So I don't like the app and as soon as I can get a new laptop charger I will be going back to watching on Amazon and I will never be using this stupid app again

OP lots of the films and series on Prime are not free or 'included in Prime'. When Conclave was released on Prime it was £4.99 to watch, now it's free. The newest releases initially have an extra fee to pay for a while (on a laptop, tablet, phone or tv) whereas the old things don't. The app is not a con, the whole 'watch for free' Prime statement is a con as not everything is free.

rainbowunicorn · 05/07/2025 10:00

Not everything on prime is free. That is the same whether you log in to your amazon account on your laptop or on the prime video app. There are some free to watch some not.

If nothing is showing as free to watch on the app have you actually signed into it after you downloaded it. If not it won't link you as already having a subscription.

Have you logged in on the app (put in your Amazon log in details?) On my app if you tap on ‘prime’ tab icon at the bottom of the page, it’s all free, but I have to be logged in.

eurochick · 05/07/2025 10:12

It does sound like you are not logged in. The app should give you the same free content as you see on other devices. On Prime some content needs to be bought or rented though, not everything is included.

The problem with using a phone is a screed is very small for watching a video on a laptop the screen is bigger so it's better and certain and the effects looks look better types of films look better on a big screen and for certain films you go to the cinema because the screen is huge
