To think it's actually OK to recline your seat on a long haul flight?

I always thought it was just one of those things, but this poll seems to make out it's anti-social behaviour. And that hack is just batshit.

Flier shares 'best life hack' to stop passengers in front reclining their seat

Traveller shares her 'best life hack', involving a tub of Pringles, but is branded 'pathetic' and 'a horrible person'.

I would not intentionally hurt anyone either. And I would expect a person who knows that sitting behind someone who may very well use their seat in the manner for which it was intended was likely to cause harm, to take action to prevent this happening - eg, book seat with extra legroom, etc.

These threads always go the same way lol

The suggestions get more and more ludicrous eg those of us that recline actively wish to do harm to disabled people etc, or cause injuries to other passengers..

bonkers- and I can’t be arsed now - so
off to stamp on some kittens and head butt a child instead ..

The people with long legs can use the same argument though... they paid for a seat with X amount of leg room.

The truth is that long haul flights in Economy are never going to comfortable as there are too many people in too small a space.

I've already commented upthread and nobody has come back to tell me who these magical airlines are that have fully reclining seats in economy.

The sheer exaggeration and bonkerness on this thread is astounding (and quite funny at the same time).

I suspect that a high proportion of people posting ridiculous comments about "dumping your seat in someone's lap" etc etc have never been near a plane in their lives.

@Lardychops - please save some kittens for me to stamp on too.

In that case then there has never been this issue 😂

Well no

If you don’t wish to cause injury to other passengers why did you say this?

in that case I’d swap with my husband who is a big heavy chap. So I guess then it would be a battle of wills his bulk pushing back against their strong knees pushing forward

Rather than “in that case I’d swap with my husband and recline to my hearts content elsewhere”. Perhaps it’s more comfortable for you to have your husband injure passengers on your behalf?

That’s what I was saying about the unnecessary aggression over it. Nobody wants to travel long haul economy and being kind and polite would go a long way.

That’s the issue - it’s the aggression that makes the situation much worse.
