Lost passport

Teenage daughter has lost her passport with one week to go until we go on holiday. Does anyone know if she can get an emergency passport or an emergency appointment.
im so stressed I actually could cry.

It's one week fast track for children, you should already be goggling and applying.

How did she lose it? Is there any chance of finding it, mumsnetters often have great suggestions.

Is it outside the house lost or has it never left.

She is 19 so an adult apparently

In all likelihood she won't be able to get a replacement in time. The earliest appointment available is the day after you apply and the passport is delivered by courier one week after the appointment.

I suggest she looks everywhere, systematically including in all suitcases, bags, coat pockets etc., in glove compartments, behind furniture first. When was the passport last used?

What did she last have it for?
A trip or proving ID?
That might give a clue to its whereabouts.

Not if it's replacing a lost passport. The urgent process is for renewing an adult passport. All the information is very clearly given on a www.gov.uk/get-a-passport-urgently

DS had his passport stolen (in the airport when returning from a work trip). He went to a passport office in person, by appointment, with everything required and got a replacement passport on the day. It can be done, so she will have to get on and do it. Once it is reported stolen it will be cancelled, so maybe another really thorough search should happen today.

OP the passport turnaround times are SUPER quick right now. I went to Peterborough passport office on Saturday for the 1-week service, my passport arrived on Monday! I'd get booking if I were you.

Also if you're stuck ring the passport advice line, I had to ring them last week about DD's passport and they answered quickly and were really helpful.

We got dc on a day. Nearest major city. Made appointment for next day, took ID, paid eye watering £200 odd and got passport at appointment

As soon as she gets a new one she'll probably find it the day after !

I would be doing a huge search. Or more specifically getting her to do a huge search.

As long as no issues, yes it can be issued on the day (for adults). Though it old is lost, think won’t be same day.

thanks lovelies! It’s for a week Monday. She has an appointment this Monday in Liverpool. Praying it comes in time. If it’s a renewal it comes same day apparently if it’s a replacement they send it out. I’ve prayed to st Anthony and he hasn’t helped, god love him. So having to hope and pray. I suppose worse scenario she can fly out a day later. My son has already dropped out so we are 1k down and can’t get a refund.

If she went away with friends, do they have it?

No, she got mugged a few weeks ago and thinks it was in her bag. She’s form house.

It arrived. Interview in Liverpool on Monday and we got it on Tuesday. One small crisis averted.

Oh what a relief!

Credit to passport office again. One of our children lost theirs in Germany when he was 19 and traveling around Europe. The British Embassy in Berlin couriered a replacement to them in Frankfurt in 2 days. Another had issues in Chile and they sorted it out in 3 days. Not all services are broken.
