What temp should the forehead temp be?

I've got a body thermometer that you swipe across the temple of forehead. It's coming up as orange, which means a slight temp I think. 38.5 degrees. What is the normal temp for this area?

Sorry I'm panicking

Normal is 37 ish - 38.5 is a definite temperature. Is it a child?

WickWood · 03/07/2025 22:02

I found the forehead ones highly inaccurate, I got one originally for my baby, in the end I got a Braun ear thermometer which seems much more accurate.

But yes, 38.5 would class as a high temperature.

It's 37.6 and that's showing as orange. My forehead is 36.4 and green.

He had a red reading but that was because he was laying on that side of his head I guess.s

I don't know. I've woke him up. Calpol and milk. What else can I do

normal temperature is 36.5-37.5
if 37.5 or over in baby under 3 months, straight to A&E.

otherwise, consider calpol as per dose and seek advise from 111 if you need it x

If you get a temp anywhere over 37.5 then that counts but go by the instructions specific to your thermometer. The most accurate is in the ear but if your thermometer is a forehead one then that’s all you can do

The most accurate is the rectum followed by the mouth.

Definitely get propet medical advice. Note all symptoms.
