Need advice asap! Permanent Nursery Teacher Role or Long Term Supply Year 1 role? I’m scared of going perm! But it has benefits!

I’ve been trying to move away from teaching but nothing comes close to salary and we cannot afford for me to go part time or find a lower salary job. Now long term agency teacher salary is paid to scale but there’s always fees that are being deducted still and any days taken off for sickness and other reasons are unpaid. So salary is not balanced. Or to move from one school to another sometimes I get stuck in daily supply which is again not affordable like clean 110 a day max. No holiday pays. So for the past year and half I’ve lost quite a lot of money doing a mixture. I have been happier in general but I hated daily supply and there’s been long term schools I’ve hated.

Now I also will go on maternity in the next year or two so it would benefit to have a proper job that I can go back to.

perm job is in a nursery and the long term 1 year job is in year 1. Both are not my preference as I prefer teaching Reception.

I’m so stuck! Need advice asap!

I’d definitely opt for the permanent position as you’ll have maternity benefits and job security when you decide yo get pregnant.
Also, teaching in nursery is much more like Reception than Y1. I think the first term in Y1 is the hardest term in primary teaching and I wouldn’t be keen to go back to it.Most of the children spend the majority of their time asking when they can play, it’s so sad!

Permanent Nursery job it’s a lovely, rewarding role. Active ,physical and exhausting but wonderful and magical too.Sounds like you know what it would be like. I loved my time as a Nursery teacher.
