To think they overcharged in the Diddy case and missed a real chance to make a powerful statement about DV and male power?

It feels like they swung for the fences with the charges like sex trafficking and ended up missing a far more achievable (and still serious) conviction on domestic violence. If they’d focused more precisely on patterns of abuse, control and coercion, the outcome might have landed differently and sent a clearer message.

AIBU to think this was a prosecutorial misstep? That in trying to go big, they failed to centre the very real and recognisable ways men like this abuse power behind closed doors?

On what basis do you say this?

They got two convictions and he will serve meaningful jail time.

It is easy to make the judgment that they were wrong ex post facto. They clearly thought that they had enough evidence to secure a conviction.
