Am I being too sensitive

At work we are going through a change with a partner (business we work with) and will require them sending over customer details for us to upload to our systems.

Team leader asked for them to be sending individually for each customer, I assume to make it easier, but the partner said they have so we aren't the only business they are doing this business change with, that it won't be possible.

Line manager than said to me when we left the meeting that she wasn't happy with the partner for not following the request to be sent per customer and not just attached whatever they have an in any order.

I'm not sure if it really makes a difference being sent individually or just whatever they have, I guess it would save us some work but also as this partner is mega busy as well (so much work from both sides) than I think a bit of understanding both ways help.

Back story is I'm getting annoyed with team leader (I don't report to her) always "not being happy" with colleagues and partners etc.

I personally think that wasn't justified aibu

I don't normally say this - but if that's your biggest problem...

AlertPeachQuail · 02/07/2025 19:03

Sorry I didnt proof read!

Basically team leader is always showing displeasure with everyone and everything and it's annoying me.

This is not worth getting annoyed about…learn to ignore.

It's just constant with her and unfortunately we travel to site or work in the office. Constant. We also have new staff and I don't think it's wise to constantly state she isn't happy with colleagues or partners or customers

I’d find that annoying too. Some people are just determined to find fault all the time. Try not to let it get under your skin. Just smile and ignore. You have no influence over her behaviour, only your reaction to it. Smile and ignore, over and over.

I just think as team leader she has to be a bit better? Aibu

She should, but she’s not. Whatever you do, don’t get drawn into agreeing with her. You can’t change her, you can’t get rid of her, so you have to learn to cope or change jobs. Wherever you go and whatever you do you’re going to encounter people who rub you up the wrong way. Don’t let it affect you.

How do I stop from agreeing with her. She's so oblivious to everyone around her that's the issue. She constantly takes about herself and it's so draining.

Why when you don’t report to her

are you also a team leader?

how long has it been “100”?

Three weeks now and for the foreseeable future.

No I don't have the same responsibility level as her and she's not my TL but we report to same manager

well then it sound like she won’t notice if you’re not agreeing with her. You don’t have to actively disagree, just stay quiet. If it’s bad enough that you feel you must do something then start documenting it all first so that you’ve got detailed information. Situations like this are really difficult to manage, and can easily turn the wrong way and end up causing more trouble for the aggrieved party than the perpetrator. How big is the company?

It sounds like you’re dealing with a tricky situation. If you’re worried then I’m sure they’ll delete it for you. But while it’s still here, keep your head down, keep records of everything, and keep your eye on the job market. Life is very unfair sometimes. I don’t think you’re being unreasonable, but some of the work situations I’ve seen play out among my friends have caused me to have no faith in reasonable treatment from an employer. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this, it’s shit. Just smile and ignore outwardly, and keep a record privately. Hopefully you’re not the only one who finds her awful.
