When the new leader of the BMA believes people can change sex? To me this is a deafeningly loud signal that the medical profession have a high proportion of, and are led by, people entirely lacking in integrity and easily bought by lobbyists and corporate interests. Please explain to me why I'm wrong because it is so alienating and frightening.

We pay doctors to have a knowledge of basic biology for a start and these people making impossible claims are extremely concerning. How are they even fit to practise?

Thankfully the BMA are apparently just a bog standard union for the purpose of negotiating pay and conditions so may not have influence further than that.

Apparently the general membership were not allowed to vote in this and there are doctors on threads about this the Feminism (FWR) board that had no idea the vote was happening and are angry at such nonsense.

We need to keep pushing Wes Streeting to get a grip of gender ideology in the NHS - so much harm is being done and money wasted.

What do you think about the woman who was raped by a trans identifying male in a female ward but then the hospital lied to police and said no male was on the ward so she couldn’t have been raped? That was until the cctv footage was found a year later.

@Bonbonthechewyone Why is it trans hate? It’s a biological fact you can’t change sex, and the BMA leader is wrong to say you can. As a doctor he knows you can’t.

You may have body dysphoria, or choose to say you want to live as the opposite sex to your biological sex, and I really don’t care if you want to, it’s totally your choice but you cannot change sex, even with a sex change operation you still have female or male chromosomes and all that entails

Its time Trans people understood that the great majority of us support them if they want to live as the opposite sex, just do not tread all over women’s hard earned rights for safe spaces
