Is this a Scam 🤔

Just posting that I received a message (scam) on my email address to say that they received my information (had my name) to say that I was on dating apps and playing with myself (haven’t been playing with myself but have been on dating apps previously) and if I don’t transfer £2000 that my activity will be leaked all over the internet 😳. Obviously I know this could be a scam from the sending money part but the bit where it says my activity from dating apps will be leaked is concerning. (Was only on dating apps 5 years ago but did nothing more than talk)

It's a scam, they have nothing on you. Delete and ignore

MadBlack · 29/06/2025 19:51

It's definitely a scam. Delete it and move on.

Wigeon · 29/06/2025 19:51

Of course it's a scam. Delete and ignore.

vodkaredbullgirl · 29/06/2025 19:52

Of course it is

BrentfordForever · 29/06/2025 19:52

It’s a scam my dear .. I get these constantly and I’m not on dating apps 🤔

laughingnow · 29/06/2025 19:53

I had that yesterday and today I had a threatening text from DWP about cold weather payment or whatever it’s called. Both are nonsense which I reported, blocked, deleted and forgot about. Don’t worry, they’re playing a numbers game and have nothing on you, or me!

Createausername1970 · 29/06/2025 19:54

It's a scam. Plenty of people who haven't been on dating apps will receive the same message. They will send a random message to 10,000 random people. The vast majority of recipients will know it's a scam because they haven't wanked on camera. They rely on the fact that one or two WILL have, and therefore take it seriously.

Thanks everyone for putting my mind at ease
knew it was a scam but was just concerned about leaking on internet part

Well obviously?!

Who's it from? if all you've done is talk then does it matter if your activity gets leaked "all over the internet" (?what is "all over the internet").who's going to give a shiny shit as to some random womans activity 5 years ago?

For christ sake

RaraRachael · 29/06/2025 20:02

I've had this saying I've been on my webcam and dating apps and I have neither 🤣

FairKoala · 29/06/2025 20:02

It’s like the ones who say they will leak all my personal photos onto the internet if I don’t send money

Given my photo album on my phone consists of baby panda videos (do you know you can be a Panda Nanny) and photos of my cats and screen shots of what I want my bathroom to look like I replied Go ahead

I don't want to derail the thread, but what's a panda nanny? Sounds amazing

It’s just a scam. It is an attempt to extort tho so you could report it to the non-emergency police line. I think you can do it online. Not that they’d do anything I’m sure!

I got a group text about an unpaid parking ticket the other day from ‘the government’ who are well known for sending group texts!

AtomicBlondeRose · 29/06/2025 20:56

Gosh I was on dating sites a few years ago and I can't think of anyone who would even care enough to look at the conversations if they were emailed right to them! They weren't exciting then and they're much less so many years later.

BeenThereBackThen · 29/06/2025 21:31

It’s a scam.

Playing with yourself?.. Crime of a century, no doubt.

Then why are you concerned? There are lots of horrible scams going on.

pinkstripeycat · 29/06/2025 21:42

I used to get these to my work emails all the time. Defo didn’t okay with myself on camera at work 😂

It’s a scam

GuiltyPleasure · 29/06/2025 22:15

The fact that you have to ask whether it’s a scam is concerning in itself, but seriously what sort of conversations on a dating app could you possibly have engaged in that would be blackmail worthy?

MsTamborineMan · 29/06/2025 22:34

ML5 · 29/06/2025 20:52

My conversations on chat sites

Leaking to where?

Even if some randomer posts to twitter your conversations on a dating site 5 years ago who cares?

I assume you aren't King Charles. It's not going to make the BBC that Sally from Milton Keynes flirted with Tim on Tinder in 2019.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 29/06/2025 22:40

Scam

Annoyeddd · 29/06/2025 22:46

I get them a lot about parking tickets which I know I can ignore as don't have a car registered to my name.
