What are these spots on my son’s skin?

When bathing my 6 year old tonight I noticed these spots on his skin. They only seem to be on his torso , not on his legs, arms or face.
They're not itchy, sore or bothering him and he’s not unwell so I’m at a loss!
He’s had chicken pox when he was around 4 years old (and quite severely at the time) so it’s definitely not that.

Any ideas?

Are they dry? They look like they could be eczema patches to me.

They do look a lot like chicken pox. It is possible to get it more than once

Greenpolkadots · 27/06/2025 20:29

They’re not itchy at all and when he had chicken pox before he was insanely itchy - he was also feverish and sick.
He’s got zero symptoms like that and not even irritated by them, it’s only because I spotted them.

Heat rash?

candycane222 · 27/06/2025 20:36

I wonder if heat/sweat rash too, wearing a sweaty shirt all the school day in this boiling wether perhaps?

My dh's back looks a bit like this at the moment, he insists he can't feel anything but it looks like he's reversed into a hedge!

Could be molloscum contagium, have a Google. It's not serious and very common.

Kolatop · 27/06/2025 22:26

My DS had exactly this - it was from a virus but he barely displayed any illness at all. Came up all over this torso, neck and face. Then, next day, gone! He looked awful when it came up though. I'll see if I have a picture of his.

SabrinaSt · 27/06/2025 22:27

Another vote for molluscom contagium. Both my children had it, it cleared up in about 18 months.

Kolatop · 27/06/2025 22:28

This was DS.

I’ve a few spots like those on my left leg
I wore leggings (in Theo’s weather!!) last few days and have been so hot

Greenpolkadots · 29/06/2025 15:29

A couple more have popped up, I’m wondering if it’s spreading.
Still zero symptoms and no itchy and not irritated by it.
They are very slightly raised to touch.
We went to see the pharmacist yesterday and they prescribed antihistamine in case it’s an allergy and that’s made no difference so I’m assuming it isn’t that, plus the fact he’s not irritated by it.

There are some on his tummy and on his neck now as you can see from the pics.

@Kolatop Looks similar to my DS although his is not as widespread as your son’s was.
Did you find out what virus might have caused it? And did you take him to the GP?

I think molluscum. My son had it when he was about 6. The GP said it would take ages to clear (months!), but I read on here about Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, so picked the tops off thr spots every night and smothered in the cream, and it cleared up really quickly!
