Cold sore or not?

Dh periodically get these things on his lips but they don’t look like a typical cold sore. It starts as what looks like a spot/bump usually on the edge of his bottom lip, but then cracks quite soon and becomes more of a cut/wound. Round in shape but it just doesn’t look like a cluster of blisters which is what cold sores usually look like. I’m always a bit wary of contact with him when he has one but don’t know if I’m being OTT. Does anyone else present with cold sores like this?

I havnt had a coldsore for a long time, but I never ever got them as clusters of blisters. It was always one bump, and progresses very similar to what your DH is getting.

I get cold sores and they can definitely start like a spot. Honestly if you’re not sure I’d just not risk it, I hate having them!

What you describe is exactly how coldsores appear with me. Feel an itchy tingle before spot/bump appears. Often end up cracked when they scab.

Ah that’s annoying we have a very rare child free night tonight but I’m loathe to get too close if you know what I mean! It does appear to be healing and shrinking but guessing it’s still contagious while visible.
