with 2 children?

ok so its only one night , but I have taken them each another set of :

pj's
grow bags for the baba
jeans
2 extra tops (weather pemitting)

They could :

wet themselves at night
puke during the day (been caught out on this one a few weeks ago)
be freezing cold being by the sea
Or just get so soaked or covered in ice cream or whatever from rain and they need to be changed

My idh is going mental at me for being neurotic and over packing and wants me to call my sister to see what shes taking. Bare in mind I have a 21mth old and a 4yr old who's just out of nappies at night.

This is what I live with day in day out ,hypercritical-ness of my every move .

I am like you, always best to be prepared.
He will thank you for it if anything happens!

loujay · 24/05/2008 10:38

No, I dont think you are being unreasonable. Its a fact of life with small children I think.

idh = idiot dh!

hes now gone to bed with a migraine and whilst sympathetic , Ive got to; iron the clothes , pack , wash my hair , style it and get ready for a wedding all by 12:30.

Doesn't sound neurotic to me - especially as you've been caught out recently

I used to have to take a whole set of clothes anywhere with DS - even to town - as he'd spontaneously throw up with no warning, right up til about 4yrs old!

melsy · 24/05/2008 10:40

and as hes in our bedroom , where the shower is , I cant now get ready as both the dd's will come up with me.

Now what do I do?

no its sensible i always packed like that and even got my ds1 used to eating cold pasta so if ever we broke down he always had a meal he could eat (and believe me the one time we did break down in the middle of nowhere we were glad he had food) you need spare clothes as inevitably they will spill stuff and you either end up with stained sponged down clothes or you have to buy more whilst youre on your outing -even now if we go anywhre i take a spare tshirt for ds3 whos 7.
Men never understand but just u wait he will expect you to deal with all eventualities.my dh said to me the other day pass me a baby wipe? i said i havent got any (the ones in the car had dried up) no baby wipes ?? he said incredulously -a mum with no baby wipes well that v unusual for you he said ...bearing in mind our ds are now 14,12 and 7!!

melsy · 24/05/2008 10:42

we also know that UK weather is so changeable , so it could be freezing and cold one minute and hot and steamy the next.

go in and get your shower woman the children belong to both of you and you need to be ready .........he cant dominate the room like that

melsy · 24/05/2008 10:44

ahh see you cant win can you.

He thinks Im mad whatever I do .

He deems himself a man of balance and sensibilties .
