What's wrong with my cat.

My cat has just come in from outside. She has a lump on her leg that bleeds. But will stop bleeding when I clean it. She's not crying and will let me clean it. Has eaten and drank. Do I need to go to the vets?

Yes, it could be infected.

AnchorWHAT · 25/06/2025 17:42

Looks like she scraped it on something, i would keep it clean and keep an eye on it for a day or two and if still a lump or bleeding still, off to the vet.

ChompandaGrazia · 25/06/2025 17:43

Looks like a cut or a bite. I would take her to the vet as you don’t want it to get infected.

Youdontseehow · 25/06/2025 17:43

Given the cat seems fine, I’d just keep cleaning it with some form of antiseptic cleaner and apply something like savlon and reassess in the morning.

Hope kitty stays ok 🐱

a quick google tells me that’s an awful idea

Agree vets. You can’t keep a wound on a paw clean, they’ll probably give a antibiotic shot and cream.

TomatoSandwiches · 25/06/2025 17:57

Cats do not act distressed when they are in pain, not how you would typically imagine so she could be in large amounts of pain you wouldn't know, vets is a must.

Mumshotel · 25/06/2025 18:02

Thank you everyone. I've only put water on it. Going to vets.

Yep, vets. Especially in this warm weather, it could easily get infected. Also, she probably is in pain.

No!!!!! Most human antiseptics are poisonous to cats.

I would agree, keep cleaning with boiled salted water, and if you see any pus then go to the vet.

But no antiseptics!
