Moscow airport incident - warning not to watch the video

Not an AIBU just warning others not to watch the graphic, horrific video of Vladimir Vitkov attempting to murder an Iranian toddler at Moscow airport today whilst his parents were a few feet away. I unfortunately watched the video unaware of what happens and it’s awful, I wish I could unsee it.

The poor boys parents had fled from Iran to Russia and were met by this evil monster. Praying the wee boy makes a full recovery and the authorities lock away the perpetrator for life.

Its so scary to be a parent these days, my heart goes out to the boy and his family. No doubt he will be scarred for life.

The comments on the article are mostly reassuring, can't understand why there seems to be such a small reaction on mumsnet. Not saying anyone should watch the video but how disgusting a person do you have to be to do that. He needs to never leave jail. Imagine he has a daughter the same age?

Hope he faces real justice in Russia.

What a complete psycho, that poor family fleeing war and this happens while still in the airport! It’s literally beyond belief.

Most of mumsnet probably aren’t even aware as mainstream media outlets don’t seem to focus on stories like this when the victims are Muslim (I remember being shocked a few months back hearing about the Muslim man in France who was stabbed to death in a mosque by a man who pretended he wanted to learn how to pray). Had this been another place of worship eg. Church and the perpetrator was Muslim I’m almost certain it would have headlined across UK.

I do hope the dehumanisation of Muslims and Jews comes to an abrupt end soon but I fear the world is heading in the wrong direction at full speed.

It really is awful beyond comprehension, I think what’s more harrowing is the monster initially pretended he had no idea what happened to the toddler when his parents turned around to find him unconscious on the floor, he even went up to him momentarily as if to check he’s ok. He’s claiming he was high on drugs but only marijuana was found in his system and his calculated behaviour says otherwise…

WTAF... this world is beyond me sometimes. Heartbreaking

He is in a coma with severe spinal and head injuries. Russian doctors have said if the angle was even slightly different he would have died on impact, it really is a miracle he’s alive at the moment. I really, really hope he pulls through with no lasting damage. Please don’t watch the video, I really wish I knew what it was before it played on my phone! I can’t get it out of my head.

I hope nobody accepts that drugs defence. He looked round to see if anyone was watching before trying to kill that child. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Yes he definitely knew what he was doing pre and post attack, that’s clear to see.

Oh god that sounds terrible. Thanks for the warning, it’s the sort of thing that would get under my skin and replay in my mind for a long time. I have two young kids and I just can’t bear how horrible people are sometimes.

I have only watched the partial video on the above link. That was sickening enough. Looking at the movements immediately prior to the hurling to the floor, that will have been an horrific impact. Whilst I pray I am wrong, I cannot imagine full recovery to be at all likely. At this point, I suspect death is still a feasible outcome. And may not even be the worst possibility. That poor poor child. The poor family. This is abhorrent.

This depraved individual deserves never to see the light of day again and I mean that literally. A darkened cell to end his miserable life. Or the death sentence quicker the better. Drop the bastard from a high building.
I just cannot comprehend why you would even think to do this.

The wee boy was thrown full force, even through grainy CCTV the strength and viciousness in the throw could be seen. It would be a total miracle if he makes full recovery 😢

And to think he has a daughter the same age as the little lad! It really is unbelievable. He should never be allowed to have contact with her or any child ever again.
