Obviously I have a GP and I have a friend who is also a GP. My friend lives abroad and when she realized that my GP was the same GP who trained her as a GP she said please will you say hello to her for me. Is this appropriate because I know you should not become personally friendly with your GP but this is just relaying one hello message from one person to another and that would be the end of it

I'm no expert, but I think it would be fine. I take it they aren't checking on the status of someone's GUM results or haemorrhoids? Or something more serious?

Failing that, I think it's probably fine.

Of course it's OK. They are humans who happen to be doctors who knew each other in a professional capacity. Why would it be misinterpreted?

In that case, I don't think you should worry. Just pass on the greeting and leave it be.

I thanked my GP for sorting my fungally breasts, he spluttered - I should think so!

He'd be over the moon if I only presented him with a hello from a former colleague.
