Have I been scammed?

Posting here for traffic...just booked a holiday (online) with lastminute.com. Paid the full amount (on my credit card). Received an email from them, a few hours ago, saying the holiday will be confirmed in the next 72hours! Our holiday is due to begin in 10 days.
Is this normal or have I been scammed?
Does anyone have any experience of this? It just doesn't feel right. What happens if holiday is not confirmed, or separate parts of holiday become unavailable, in the next 72 hours?

Can you phone them?

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 24/06/2025 20:16

Given it's a big company and you paid by credit card I think you'll be fine.

ninjahamster · 24/06/2025 20:18

Did you definitely go through their website and not a link somewhere? If so, I’m sure you will be fine, they’re a big company and you’ve used your credit card.

strawlight · 24/06/2025 20:19

It should be confirmed sooner than that, they will book the flights and accommodation for you (after searching for the cheapest price to maximise their cut) and will confirm the details once it’s all booked.

Try not to worry yet.

Seawolves · 24/06/2025 20:20

Pretty normal I think, isn't it because they have to confirm the separate components that make the package? I am certain that's what happened last time I used them for a holiday.

Annie1919 · 24/06/2025 20:22

a sales guy sent me a link- that's the bit that's niggling me.

Did you book through the main website?

JudithOnHolidayAgain · 24/06/2025 20:28

In

Check the url carefully to see if it actually is from Lastminute.com (not a similar spelling like Last-minute.com or lastminute.holiday.com or something). If the sales guy is legit, he probably gets commission from referrals which is quite common and nothing to worry about. The URL contains some code that automatically gives him commission so that's why he wanted you to book via the link.

Did you book through the main website?

Yes but then the 'virtual assistant' helped and sent me a link with a discount.

BodenCardiganNot · 24/06/2025 20:39

Do you know what the link was? Do you still have it?

PinkiOcelot · 24/06/2025 20:48

I’m sure this rings a bell. My friend mentioned it last year. She was worried as well but it was fine.

TinySaltLick · 24/06/2025 20:50

If the link got sent via the chat on the legit website, I think you are fine - just call them tomorrow if you've had nothing overnight

DesperatelySeekingHelp · 24/06/2025 20:51

I dont think it’s a scam. I had the same last year and it was fine.

WhyWhyWhy889 · 24/06/2025 20:52

Booked with them before. You’ll get a call soon saying the price has changed as what you seen was the “live” price and it’s now changed.

Happened to us a few years a go. We took a cheaper option in the end just to match the “good” price we seen online.

43plusafewforluck · 24/06/2025 20:52

It’s totally normal, they are just confined each part of the package, room size, transfer etc.
Normally confirmed in 24 hours at he latest!

DaisyChain505 · 24/06/2025 20:52

Yes you’re fine. This is pretty normal.

TY78910 · 24/06/2025 20:55

I booked through a similar type of website before, I think loveholidays and it was the same process. It’s because they have to book the flights and hotel separately on your behalf and it’s not instant. It doesn’t book the airline ticket instantly when you pay - someone will have to link it all up afterwards. If it was done on the legitimate website then you will be fine
