Got my elderly father a second hand reclining armchair for £50!!!! It’s. Bargain but can smell it and it’s all musky and old smelling. Any tips to get the smell out please :/

Try sprinkling with bicarbonate of soda. Leave for at least half an hour then vacuum it off.
You can get larger containers of it for cleaning online.

Assuming it is fabric I would remove any covers that are removable and give them a cool wash in the machine and then steam clean the rest of the chair (if you don’t own a steam cleaner you can buy a garment steamer for about £20 which will have the same effect. When everything is dry shove some lenor fabric softer sheets inside any cushions or down the sides of the chair to freshen things up. Good luck

Get a professional cleaner person in.
Those that do carpets & rugs will probably do a large chair? Ask Mr Google.

Hire a carpet cleaning machine from B&Q and do it yourself?

However you do it, put cleaned chair in hot sunshine afterwards because “damp” might
re-activate all sorts of bacterial odours. There might be all sorts of dribbles & farts nesting in the fabric! 😂

TBH it might be a goner.

But you could try leaving it outside in direct sunlight for a week or so. The fresh air can help clear any mustiness out and the UV light might kill some bacteria.

it depends upon whether the chair has been pissed on. In which case it might be a goner.
