Don’t want to be outing but have come across a gross misuse of public funds to a government quango which should be going out to develop new business in the U.K. who or how do I complain about this to - it’s all our money being wasted?

The country had the opportunity to complain about the gross misuse of public funds over the previous 14 years on 4th July last year.

If you are still unhappy, your MP is the best place to start.

All Government Quangos will have a department that provides their funding, find the minister who runs that department and raise it with them

Submit an FOI request asking about the money to the relevant quango.

if there are other departments involved in this area submit FOI requests to them.

search Hansard and they work for you for the names of MPs and members of the House of Lords interested in this area and send them
the details you have and ask them to investigate or ask a question to the relevant minister.

write to your mp as your local representative with the details you have.

depending on how scandalous it is send the details to all the newspaper “tip” email addresses. I’d imagine Daily Mail, Telegraph and the spectator are your best bet if it is misuse of government money.

if there are charities working in adjacent areas send the details to them.

Without knowing more about the specific subject area that’s where I’d start

Do you think it stopped on 4th July 2024 and it isn’t ongoing? If so, I have a famous bridge to sell you.

Oh no, it is definitely ongoing. I was hopeful that this lot would be better than they are, however they are still better than the lot they replaced. Just.

One of the issues is that there are no clear choices. It is about choosing the least worst. That's never a good place to be.

The way the current lot got in isn't because they won, it's because the Conservatives lost. A protest vote if you will. It is dire really. I don't believe any of the current cabinet have ever actually run a business, so while there are some benefits (more NHS appointments, more resource to process migrants etc), there have also been some very bad decisions (national insurance increases for businesses).

Heaven knows where we will be by the time the next election comes. I shudder to think.

Don't write directly to the relevant minister. The letter won't go anywhere near them. Write to your own MP and ask them to forward your letter to the minister if you want them to actually see it.
