What does an informal interview involve?

I’ve made it through to the final stage for a role. My first interview was more formal, mainly focused on my experience and skills. I’ve now been invited to a final stage, in-person interview, and they’ve said it’ll be “informal” and a chance to “get to know me better.”

Does anyone have experience with this kind of interview?

What sort of questions should I expect? How should I prepare? Is there still a level of assessment, or is it more about personality/culture fit at this point?

Yes, to be honest it’s not really informal, for you. You still need to think about your answers and plan, however it’s more a cultural fit thing do you like them do they like you etc. You are likely to be the only one at the moment to be invited to have one but don’t get too excited lots of people fall at this hurdle being too casual or not opening up or sharing more about themselves. Be you. You have got this far, well done.

Who knows? Could be anything. What kind of role/industry is it for?

I would echo what @geekone said, except I would think you are in the last two. For roles I’ve recruited for or been short listed for, I’ve found it’s a personality & culture fit for the top two candidates.

You will be questioned more casually but judged as formally as the first interview!

It's a good sign and often just checking how you get on with people, gell with the team etc.
