Hi just wondering if anyone has experienced this, is this a mole? And does it look okay? Quite small really but when zoomed in can see black spots!
rang gp but couldn’t get through this morning so will try again tomorrow.

Its impossible to tell from a photo, but I would advise persevering with your GP's surgery and get a face to face appointment in the next few days.
I've just had a similar looking one removed from my forehead.
The run-up was tedious and took weeks, but once we had a diagnosis I was in and out of day surgery at our Maxilio-Facial clinic the following week with some very fine embroidery work across my face and some spectacular bruising, but no mole.
The numbing injections were the most unpleasant part of the procedure which was totally painless.
Two months afterwards you can just see a scar if you search carefully and there was no sign of cancer.
Its probably nothing to worry about, but do get it checked.

Thank you for your reply!
im glad yours went okay and it was not cancerous.

Has it changed? Is it new? Doesn't look concerning to me.

KimberleyClark · 23/06/2025 16:06

Looks more like seborrheic keratosis to me, which is harmless. Get it checked out though.

Davros · 23/06/2025 16:26

I saw my GP recently about one that looks like that and they put me on a 2 week pathway to dermatology at the local hospital, it came through very quickly. Can you send an online enquiry to your GP? I find that works very well if it’s something you don’t want to, or can’t, wait for.

mindutopia · 23/06/2025 17:09

Unless it’s new, it doesn’t look particularly worrying (said as someone with skin cancer, mine appeared and grew to the size of about 2cm in a year). But always get it checked. Even if they say it’s fine, if it changes a few months later, get it checked again.

Mummyofko · 23/06/2025 19:39

I wouldn’t say new maybe a few years?
thanks so much for your replies!
davros what did yours turn out to be?

Mention it to the Gp next time you gone less it's changed a lot.
Keep that picture, take another pic with a ruler to see the size. Take regular pics and keep an eye on it. You can probably ask your surgery if you can send the pic for someone to look at and see if you need to be seen or if you should monitor
Always best to check!

@Mummyofko I am going next Tuesday, I’ll let you know what it is. I must admit that I haven’t been too worried as I’ve got a friend who is a consultant dermatologist and he said the specific one is not something to worry about. But I want to go to have everything looked at as there’s something similar on one of my shoulders. I’ve been before about a mark on a fingernail and it was impressive, a full body inspection 😱

Mummyofko · 23/06/2025 22:41

Yes I think I will try and make an appointment tomorrow anyway! My health anxiety cannot take it otherwise haha. I actually hate going to the doctors now.
aw that’s good I’m glad you’ve had some reassurance, but good luck for Tuesday!! And yes please update me!

@Mummyofko thanks for the good wishes. I was offered a dermatology appointment today but I’ve already got another hospital appointment at 11.30am…

Mummyofko · 24/06/2025 10:52

Oh were they able to reschedule?
i managed to get through to gp today and she asked me to send pictures through email and get back to me. I sent a few as have other moles thought best get them all checked at once!

Yes they did. Last time I went for the mark under my fingernail, which could have been a suspicious mole, I got an appointment quickly, I was seen quickly on the day and photographs were taken. Then they told me to go behind a curtain, strip off, and they examined every mark on my body! It was an unexpected experience but I want them to do that again. Better wear clean knicks

Eazybreezy · 24/06/2025 11:26

You don’t have to go to GP. I had a mole checked out at Boots last week. Paid £40 and got a next day appointment. Took 20 mins and I got an emailed report 3 days later. Would recommend

Mummyofko · 24/06/2025 11:32

No way! I didn’t even know boots offered that!? I’m in wales so will have to check if they offer that too.

Just an update, the gp rang me back and after reviewing the pictures I sent she said they look normal and to keep an eye on them and take pictures every month and keep an eye for changes ☺️ so I’m relieved with that!
