To retrain?

I’m currently working a professional job which I can’t see myself doing for the rest of my life. It’s a job that I’ve lost my passion for. I’ve been researching new careers for a while. I’ve found a course that will allow me to retrain. My two options are:

  1. complete the course part time. This will involve me working 50 hour weeks (work and training) for the best part of two years.
  2. leave my job and complete the course full time in 10 months, living off savings.

I’m leaning towards option one as I want to use my savings to put towards a mortgage but I’m wondering if I’ll become burnt out that way. Any advice?

Would a third option be to go part time in your current job, while retaining part time? Might give you more to live off but not involve such long hours

Unfortunately not. However, I will still have weekends free each week and can have one long weekend per month, using annual leave
