Silly things that give you the rage

Maybe its cos I'm peri but we were out for a meal and someone was eating chicken wings and being very meticulous about using a knife and fork to eat them and very slowly. It was holding up the next course for everyone.

Do you have any examples of getting the rage over something silly 🤣

The mother on the bus every Tuesday who gives her toddler in its buggy a tv think that plays Paw Patrol constantly at a loud volume for the whole half an hour I'm on there.

Daisy12Maisie · 21/06/2025 22:01

People that talk to me about non urgent things at work when I am clearly juggling multiple things. Because of my job there are time periods throughout the day when it’s manic and then quieter periods. Always the same times so it’s not a surprise. They will come and ask me something non urgent during a manic part of the day.
So annoying and I have to say I can’t talk now but I will come and find you when I have finished this.
Sometimes I feel like saying just f* off. You can see im busy.

BarnOwlFlying · 21/06/2025 22:02

The phrase ‘reach out’ instead of ‘ask’.

Daisy12Maisie · 21/06/2025 22:02

The answer above mine- that would drive me insane. So annoying.

Shoes. I am very angry at shoes.

Specifically women's shoes that are not the shape of feet.

Stupid, uncomfortable, pointy, squashy painful shoes. Should be illegal.

Bare feet are worse; why do people get them out in public?

AMillionTomorrows · 21/06/2025 22:06

People who-
no that’s it actually. Just people.

ZamaZama · 21/06/2025 22:07

New-fangled signs for takeaways and barbershops that feature massive 3D illuminated letters. Main street in my town looks increasingly like Las Vegas.

Closely related - video displays in shop windows and the giant electronic billboards littering high streets and gantries.

Basically, the turbocharged in-your-face hoarding and advertising that’s everywhere now. Make it stop, please!

There's a girl in work who does this, two doors down the corridor. Almost screams.

I'd kill her. I'm in a new job so I can't tell the loud sneezers to fuck off

Usernamehistoryfull · 21/06/2025 22:12

When someone slows their car down to let you pull out of a junction, even though there's ZERO traffic behind them and absolutely no reason for them to do so. Why??

MrsO3 · 21/06/2025 22:16

Strangers getting too close to me. For example, in a queue for the till in a petrol garage and they stand 1cm from me and breathe down the back of my neck. THIS QUEUE AINT GONNA MOVE ANY QUICKER AND YOU AINT GONNA BE SERVED ANY FASTER JUST BECAUSE YOU’RE PRACTICALLY STANDING ON THE BACK OF MY SHOE!!!!!! … rant over 😂

Minniliscious · 21/06/2025 22:23

I don’t know where to start 🥴 everything seems to wind me up at the moment.

My husband will insist on choosing a film, we look forward to it and get all cosy but …. he doesn’t stop talking through the whole fecking film 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ve told him time and time again not to but he literally does it every single time. I make it obvious that I’m engrossed by not answering but he’ll still talk. It’ll be on an important part and he’ll suddenly ask “What date are your Mum and Dad going away? Do you think we need new light bulbs?” Seriously - boils my piss no end.

I also have no tolerance for:
Slow walkers at school drop off and pick up
Slow drivers
Neighbours that don’t stop talking
People pouting in selfies/photos
People taking a pic of themselves in a mirror holding their phone - what is that all about? Oh I look sooooo good, I MUST share this with the world. Grrrrrr

Anyway rant over 😂😂😂

Sylviasocks · 21/06/2025 22:28

Companies needing/ expecting you to have their app for EVERYTHING. No, I won’t want an app for the roadside assistance I never use, a discount German supermarket I occasionally go to, my energy supplier or to access one ticket to ONE gig. I find it so intrusive.

Hard agree

People watching or listening to their phone on a train with no headphones
Talking on the phone on a train, work or otherwise you’re on a fucking train it’s not your office especially when it goes on longer than a couple of minutes
People who always have to be first, on an escalator, onto a bus etc. not there while you wait but lo and behold at the front when it turns up
People who want their dogs to say hello to yours
Not sure how I forgot this one as it’s the one likely to get me into trouble but people who don’t pick up after their dog - I get so fucking mad at this one

VeterinaryCareAssistant · 21/06/2025 22:34

This is a bit specific to me more than a generalisation, but being told no!

It's getting to be my partner's favourite fucking hobby and I'm getting sick of it.

partyboat356 · 21/06/2025 22:36

Being asked to review/give feedback on every single solitary thing you buy or service you use. If you don't, you get reminders to give feedback. And the feedback has gotten longer and longer over time with a series of questions asking about various aspects of your purchase or experience. Even having a parcel delivered 'how did your courier do?' They did their bloody job!

They can sod off. I only give feedback if I have a problem which is how it should be.😡

I was in the lending library in town a few months ago and a man, who looked to be in his 70s, sat and watched a youtube video over and over and over again at high volume with no head phones. Hence, I am an expert on how to tie a Windsor Knot.

Sminty2 · 21/06/2025 21:24

Me too. It would be an amusing thread my dear Sir Lord Knight daughter of King James and Katherine Parr, from Blackburn in Wales, (born in 1820, married in 1950 and died in 1723 in Ypres.

Let me guess - they’re American and descended from a knight who rode with William the Conqueror.

Hecksonaplane · 21/06/2025 22:43

@partyboat356 its annoying! The bloke I’m thinking about even had his phone pressed to his ear, I was about 6 rows away and could hear it clearly!

SmugglersHaunt · 21/06/2025 22:43

There were four people together on my train today who had a full complement of loud/annoying voices - they annoyed me so much I felt like a psychopath by the end of the journey

I had someone try and schedule an hour long meeting (that had already been entirely addressed by email..) for literally the busiest time, on the busiest day of the week deadline-wise for me. In a stupidly busy week. This is a departmental known deadline that happens every week and needs handling or loads of stuff will not be cleared to happen.

I ignored the meeting. But cripes, my diary is blocked out in red with reminders of the urgent deadline. If you do not have an urgent update that impacts the deadline, do not call me/ schedule a meeting.

My MIL!

Its specific not Pacific
Its covid, not The CoviT
At any meal, MIL will shove food in then still try to talk, so bits come flying out of her mouth!
People that lie their breasts/chest and body over shopping trolleys and use them as mobility aids.

People saying: Recommend me......, we was at ...., I done ....., You get me? Innit.

Your MIL sounds like my auntie!
Mrs So-and-so down the road went to Emphasis (Ephesus).
Mr Next door has got dimension (dementia).
Her other niece, Wendy, she calls Windy or Wandy and she is actually her Godmother.
She does the talking with mouth full too, it's disgusting.
She drives me mad and makes me laugh at the same time.

sesquipedalian · 21/06/2025 22:47

People on Mumsnet who put up the first answer, yet feel the need to copy the entire original post. What exactly do they think we think they’re answering??

People on the radio and TV who speak badly. In fact, anyone who uses a glottal stop instead of the letter “T”.

yeah @Ontobetterthings

People who post Chat topics in AIBU , treating AIBU as if it is “Mumsnet” in its entirety.

Rude

MrsCatE · 21/06/2025 22:56

@MeyerBennett my mother does multiple wet sneezes and it gives me inexplicable rage! She always has a proper lady sized hankie to hand - tissues won't do - but still makes me almost vomit!
