To charity shop her parcel?

Imaginedinos · 21/06/2025 16:34

So a friend asked if she could have a parcel delivered to me as she needed it the next day and she had work, it’s medium size. This was back in March. Parcel came, I text her to let her know I have it and it’s been sat in my hallway ever since! She’s basically ghosted me since March, I know I haven’t done anything wrong because the 2 times she has replied she’s been normal and nice. But it’s pissing me off, it’s taking up room I don’t particularly have in my small house and she seems to have no intention of coming to collect it! Am I being a dick if I get rid of it?! Or any advice on what to do. I’m worried that if I do get rid of it she will text and say I’m coming to get my parcel but it’s been 3 months…

How weird you'd take a parcel for someone that you don't even know where they live.

I bet it's dodgy AF.

ButteredRadishes · 21/06/2025 21:13

Is open it. It's presumably got your name and address on it.

Thanks everyone, I’ve texted her fingers crossed

Please, OP, why don't you just speak to her ? It really would be so much easier.

Onetwosix · 21/06/2025 21:35

I would have opened it already to see what it was. Then either kept it myself or charity shop. Don't bin it that's a waste.

PickledMuffin · 21/06/2025 21:39

I agree with @Merryoldgoat. give a deadline, then you can’t be accused as being unreasonable.

butterpuffed · 21/06/2025 18:08

Why have you left it for 3 months without asking her to collect it ?

And when you say you don't know the number of her house , her whole address will be on the parcel !

Why would it when it was posted to the OP's address?

Moonlightdust · 21/06/2025 22:41

3 months wow. I would open it just to see what on earth is inside it. If she’s bothered to get it just say a household member accidentally opened it as it had your address on after all. Strange to order something to somebody’s house and then never collect it… 🧐

Francestein · 21/06/2025 22:53

God, don’t drop it at her place or she will use yours for everything. Send her a message stating that you have had her parcel since March and that’s unreasonable. If she hasn’t arranged a time to collect it by the end of the week, you will get donate it to a charity shop

Zonder · 21/06/2025 22:54

Depends what is in it.

OntheBorder1 · 21/06/2025 22:54

I would have dropped it off to her long before now, or at least phoned her to ask when she will collect it.

LancashireButterPie · 21/06/2025 22:59

Aren't you even a tiny bit concerned re what's in it? Could be drugs if stolen property. You could be a fence.

TalkToTheHand123 · 21/06/2025 23:37

I'd be too nosey to not open it. Just deny if she asks as three months is a long time to remember!

Weird, the op doesn’t know where her friend lives ?

goingroundthebendatthisrate · 22/06/2025 00:55

Quite honestly, every day is like Christmas day in my house when a parcel arrives, as I can never remember what I've ordered. I do wonder sometimes if I've ever forgotten altogether that I'd ordered something which has never arrived.

As such, I could easily forget that I'd had something sent to a friends house, particularly if I was managing without it (whatever it was). I do remember years ago having a parcel sent to my best friends house as I'd failed to change her address back to mine, following an order I'd placed as a gift to her. Said parcel lived with her for over 12 months, as neither of us ever remembered to bring it / collect it when we visited each other.

You messaged your friend once. She's almost certainly forgotten.

DeSoleil · 22/06/2025 04:13

I would donate it to a charity shop and not contact her seeing as she hasn’t contacted you about it.

In the future if you see her and she mentions it,, call her bluff and look puzzled and say, I thought you picked it up? It was ages ago. Shrug and dismiss her with, ‘Dolores, you ordered that in March and picked it up! I’m hardly going to hold on to parcel for months on end, am I?’

DontReplyIWillLie · 22/06/2025 05:13

Tell her you’re going on holiday, but it will be outside the house if she wants to collect it while you’re away. She’ll either suddenly decide she wants it, or she’ll keep on ignoring you and someone will steal it.

tripleginandtonic · 22/06/2025 06:22

Cecemonkeylou · 21/06/2025 16:37

Drop it around her house on the doorstep and move on

This is the solution.

AMurderofMurderingCrows · 22/06/2025 06:29

For the love of God, please tell me what's in it. I need to know 🤣

Somewhat81 · 22/06/2025 06:36

It’s the Op that comes off as a bit odd

yes to accepting a parcel from someone who lives 15 mins drive away and the op doesn’t even know this person’s address!

The friend has “basically” ghosted her since March…. Has she or hasn’t she?!

oh and the other thread of the OP’s mentioned above.

honestly, the peculiar lives that some lead!

SimplyAmy1 · 22/06/2025 06:46

treesandsun · 21/06/2025 20:11

wrap it up and give it her as a Christmas present.

Yesss!!

Somewhat81 · 22/06/2025 07:02

SimplyAmy1 · 22/06/2025 06:46

Yesss!!

OP wouldn’t know where to post it
Given doesn’t even know where this person lives!

SimplyAmy1 · 22/06/2025 21:36

Any update on when she’s collecting/any reply
to your message you sent to her OP?

Fuckyachickenstrips · 22/06/2025 21:38

Thread makes no sense. Just fucking give it to her 🙄

JazzyBBBG · 22/06/2025 22:02

Recently re-watched Three Men and a Baby. This reminds me of the parcel that turns up that a friend asks Jack to take in that's the drugs but then another parcel turns up that is the baby! Hopefully it's neither of these.

Gowlett · 22/06/2025 22:06

Just stick it on top of the wardrobe & forget about it?
