To think 6 adverts for Boden on one page of AIBU is much too much

I don’t have a problem with adverts on MN, obviously they have to make their revenue somehow… but 5 adverts semi disguised as threads plus a banner, all for Boden is a bit ridiculous, isn’t it?

What adverts?

There are ads disguised as threads.

Boden must be really splashing out cash this year.

BeastAngelMadwoman · 20/06/2025 12:16

Totally agree- home page is like a shrine to Boden!

TheIceBear · 20/06/2025 12:18

I’ve seen them too. Annoying.

TheHillsIsLonely · 20/06/2025 12:35

I agree. It is annoying and off-putting. The pages are covered in Boden adverts and there are several 'promoted by MN' faux threads about Boden inserted on the Active page. It is overload. We are being spammed by MN on behalf of Boden. Perhaps we should be reporting MN to themselves for spamming! I used to love Boden back in the day but then came the issues of lower quality and the owner's high profile support for hunting. That is what I am reminded of when being bombarded by their ads on here and the faux threads. It is overkill - no pun intended. Even if I still thought supporting Boden with my money was a good thing, the spamming of ads and threads would annoy me.

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 20/06/2025 12:51

Maybe it's because they've had to blitz their ads after they were caught lying about MNer recommendations, and the Boden ones were the only ones where they actually had genuine reviews?

What adverts?

They say "promoted by Mumsnet" on the thread title, they aren't dusguised parricularly well! They often have several (and usually two together) from the same brand for weeks at a time

saraclara · 20/06/2025 13:05

It's Boden now, and was PGL prior. All under the pretence of being OPs.

I nearly OPd on here about the PGL ones, so I'm glad someone's mentioned the latest blitz.

Kreepture · 20/06/2025 13:16

i was just thinking that while scrolling down aibu. i don't give a crap about boden. i'm not much of a fan of being bombarded with their adverts.

HonestAquaMember · 20/06/2025 13:20

Wasn't it Aviva insurance until recently? Bright pink banners and things? Also lots of promoted threads about going to Disneyland with children!

Tirednessismydefult · 20/06/2025 13:27

I don’t mind them running advertising or offers, but I wish they’d seek out a professional to manage them. It’s all so amateur. The fake threads etc, we can all see what it is. It just undermines both Mumsnet and the brand.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/06/2025 13:29

There are various advertisers rotating through. I started a thread a while back when it was Parkdean. It's tiresome but this is the price we pay for not having a subscription model, I suppose.

The promoted threads all say that's what they are. I don't think MN is attempting to pretend they are ordinary user-initiated discussions. I never bother with them for that very reason.

Imabitbusyatthemoment · 20/06/2025 13:31

Also the swimming lesson threads - give it a rest!

Boden have been spamming my email inbox too. Stinks of desperation. But looking at their latest offering I can see why.
