It was horrendously slow, 48:03, but I’m seven stone down on Mounjaro and this time last year I’d have laughed at you if you told me that I would do this!

Extremely proud of you. I will remember my delight at my first 5k all my life, and you have brought it all back. You're amazing.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 19/06/2025 21:54

Well done, that's 2 huge achievements... the weight loss and the 5k👏

mamakoukla · 19/06/2025 21:54

I’m not quite sure what came over me! I’ve been doing couch to 5k, tonight was meant to be 25 minutes. But I got to that point and I was like “huh, what if I kept going?”, so I did!

SilenceInside · 19/06/2025 22:43

Ah congratulations @NHSinterviewupcoming! I’m doing C25K too having lost weight via Mounjaro, and would like to run a 5k, maybe at a park run, sometime soon!

Couch to 5k is absolutely what got me into it!! I did the 25 minute run on Tuesday for the first time, and then I just decided to try for the 5k today halfway through! I’m also on Mounjaro

Hello fellow weight loss runner! I've lost the same weight too, and last year started running at the gym and weightlifting. I've been doing a similar couch2k5 sort of routine on the treadmill, and one day I just decided to see how long I could run for. And I did it... 5k! 40 mins it took, but I didn't care! Because if someone told me 2 years ago I'd have lost 7st, be a size 8 and run 5k I'd have absolutely pissed myself laughing!

You're amazing OP! Be proud. Very proud! It's incredible finding out what your body is capable of. Such an empowering feeling! Keep smashing it 💪 ❤️

Lookingforwardto2025 · 19/06/2025 22:50

Well done!

Yourinmyspot · 19/06/2025 22:50

Fantastic, well done. The couch to 5k is a brilliant way to get into running, I did it 11 years ago and still run. Enjoy your running 😊

RunningNananananananananana · 19/06/2025 22:50

Absolutely amazing well done, I've been out and done 5k this evening and it was so warm so it's even more of an achievement doing it in this weather.

I don't know if you're on Instagram but there are some fab accounts that don't focus on speed, kyron brook fitness is one of my favourites

parkrun is brilliant, always so many people of all abilities at them, be warned it gets addictive, but in a good way.

The heat was evil tonight! I have to admit I did take a break, but only for 20 seconds or so

I love ParkRun. My son has recently left a sport he competed at at a high level as the pressure was too much. He joined Parkrun (he is not a good runner despite his sport background) and it has completely changed his outlook. He can now see sport is for everyone regardless of ability and you don't have to be 'good' at something to enjoy it. I've found it a very inclusive environment and when I finally decide to give running a go rather than just walking, it will definitely be at Parkrun.

RunningNananananananananana · 19/06/2025 23:01

20seconds, is that all!?! You absolute legend, our whole group had a few walk breaks / complete stops tonight and some of them are proper machines when it comes to running (not me I'm a plodder 🤣) !! You've smashed it @NHSinterviewupcoming 💪🏻

And remember whether it's a 15 minute 5k or a 50 minute 5k you've still run 5k!!

Definitely recommend parkrun too, no one comes last as they always have a tail walker ☺️

I had to catch my breath, but stood there clinging onto a wall swinging my legs because if I stopped them moving, I was done 🤣
