AIBU to think this article has been made up? “Laila” sounds like a fantasy…

Just saw this article on the Guardian website: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2025/jun/15/this-is-how-we-do-it-i-prefer-sex-with-someone-who-has-erectile-dysfunction

Does “Laila” really prefer sex with a man who has erectile dysfunction and does she have a preference for “older, plump men (with a 42in waist”?

Perhaps this woman exists but the further I read, the less I believed it…

This is how we do it: ‘I prefer sex with someone who has erectile dysfunction’

Laila finds the 27-year age gap between her and Jeremy a turn-on. He says being in polyamorous relationships allows him to love different people in different ways

It sounds as though “Laila” has a very troubled relationship with sex and little idea of what a healthy relationship looks like. I don’t think I’ve ever read one of these Grauniad sex/relationship pieces where one or both halves of the couple involved didn’t, tbh.

She sounds like someone with a lot of trauma who is now in a really dysfunctional relationship.

I read it yesterday and thought the whole thing was made up, which is what I think every week. I mean why would you contact the Guardian and tell them all this stuff about your sex life? I bet they have a good laugh writing these things but they've taken it a bit beyond the outer limits of belief this week.

Ha, I posted this last night in Feminism. She's basically still in an abusive relationship, poor soul. I said I hoped young women don't think this is all that they deserve.

Misogynist made-up crap in the Guardian?!?!?! Well stone the crows.

LynetteScavo · 16/06/2025 06:34

I’m not sure I believe a word of that. It’s actually almost funny. If it is true, it’s quite sad.

HRTQueen · 16/06/2025 07:08

Ah bless the Guardian is now printing the older man’s man’s fantasy stories

Serpentstooth · 16/06/2025 07:15

This is one of the Guardian's latest attempts to modernise isn't it? A little stimulation reading about other people's sex lives over breakfast. I've got a subscription to the Guardian because it's the last defence in the culture wars and it feels like I should help maintain it but It's frequently a bloody irritating read. Good crosswords though.

It was probably written by a plump older man with erectile dysfunction, who wants to convince ladies that this is what other women like! 🤣🤣
I don’t think that most women are into guys like this!
