Naked bike ride

Was in London yesterday: naked bike ride. Fine.. not my thing (or many other women). They finished the ride/protest/whatvever and then conjugated near B palace.. and just seemed to be happy wafting their micro penis’s about for kicks and giggles/

A lot of horrid middle aged naked men kicking about just felt unnecessary.

and 🤮

Yes, I would worry about one of them having an accident and falling off their bike. They could be very seriously injured as they would have no protection at all.

There's very little protection in thin Lycra and sleeveless tops

Have you seen the injuries that Olympic cyclists can end up with?

There's very little difference in being naked and wearing thin/short clothing tbh

I don’t care about the penises or boobs on display (whatever their size). I just can’t get over the hygiene implications, especially on the rented bikes. Can you imagine the butt crack/ball sack/vag sweat particles and bacteria left on those seats 🤢

Yes i agree that’s what makes it really filthy. Bare cracks on communal bikes is really antisocial.

Virtue signalling. Do you actually really give one shiny shit about a cyclist falling off their bike?
Do you care that much when you see someone without a helmet? What about the people on scooters that are wearing no protection whatsover?
This is jus some thinly veiled "caring".. when it is not really.

I hadn't thought of it that way, but I suppose you're right. They just seem particularly vulnerable to me.

I wasn't doing any such thing! I just thought they looked very vulnerable. They choose to do it, so that's up to them. It was only an opinion.

Are you always so judgemental?

I'd be more worried about something getting caught in the wheels or the chain tbh 😉

Yeah it will be wiped over and all clean 😃. I'm not part of it at all; but slightly reflecting on the fact I've been was aware of this for a couple of decades that absolutely not about body compariso. Some folk like to get naked and bike it's that simple for a cause.

DoctorRoseReturns · 17/06/2025 01:13

Also - hygiene wise...

I assume these bikes are like in other places, left outside for you to hire

Exposed to the elements, to whatever animals might use them as a toilet

Probably got sweat on anyway because sweaty butt cracks come through clothing...

Rather more worrying for the naked arse and vag to be in contact with than the next person's clothed one!

We are literally doing nothing that makes us look like sex offenders or pedophiles

You keep throwing in "in front of the children" to try and make it sound like that but it's YOU that brings up children being there

But children WILL be there. There were some horrid photos of a similar naked bike ride in London (I think) where the blokes had stopped for a break on the pavement and families with children had to try and get past them.

You keep trying to equate random and highly unpredictable triggers like the smell of Lynx or a particular song with public nudity and ignore the blindingly obvious fact that a penis is generally the instrument of direct harm in SA.

You the accuse me of ignoring the opinion of these SA survivors that are not triggered by a naked penis as if that is in any way relevant. For those survivors who are not triggered by a penis, that’s great! I’m pleased for you, lujc make nudity is not an issue for you - hooray!.

That doesn’t negate the experience of the survivors ON THIS ACTUAL THREAD who are triggered and are upset by it. Yet you dismiss them and minimise the issue by equating it to a song on a jukebox and claim that they need to be responsible for avoiding public male nudity. Which seems pretty heartless imo.

I think the law that allows this is unreasonable.

BundleBoogie · 17/06/2025 07:28

DoctorRoseReturns · 17/06/2025 00:46

Also "societal norms" depend on ... society

So there are societies where bare breasts are common and expected. Or societies where full nakedness bare body paint is normal.

Some of those are societies your children may well encounter when on holidays. So you need to be prepared to explain "some people do things differently"

So now you are wheeling out obscure and extremely minority tribes in Africa or the Amazon to justify this?

There’s a reason why you have to go that far to find where public nudity is acceptable in that way.

Seriously, when did the concept of "it's rude to stare" end?

Seriously.

When did the concept of ‘common decency’ end?

TheOmbudsmansComingtoGetYou · 17/06/2025 08:16

I’m Scottish and it’s quite mind blowing to me that public nakedness is legal in England 🤯 I did not know this.

I have only read to page 10 or so, so apologies if this has already been covered, but do the people opposed to this type of event feel that the law should be changed?

I must admit I don’t much like the idea of being out with my kids and being confronted with that. Also, I’ll never use a Lime bike 🤢

If they have a partner/spouse... I feel sorry for them. Must be awful to be accused of being a pedo every time they get their knob out in their own house.

What an absolute pathetic thing to say.

I was greeted yesterday afternoon by my lovely DH's naked body when I opened the door.

I don't want to see random men or women's genitals as I'm going about my life.

Most people wouldn't.

Children stare. Especially when adults are acting weird.

That’s why we teach them not to.

But the naked “protestors” WANT people to stare. Bloody pointless protest otherwise, isn’t it?

One of the pro nudity posters said above that this bike ride is designed to “shock”…so at what point is “shock” encroaching or synonymous with “intent to cause distress or harm” ( as required by the definition of exposure)?

BIossomtoes · 17/06/2025 09:16

SwimSwamSwimSwam · 17/06/2025 08:53

Yes, but they will anyway.

Then you take them away if you don’t want them to look. You do actually have agency in this situation, it’s not compulsory to be there.

None of that means that other people have to stare, especially if they don't like it.

Well I wouldn't have deliberately took my children out for the day where a naked bike ride was taking place. Why would I?

I just think it's funny how we keep getting told to not stare or not look out of our windows to avoid seeing these weirdos who for some reason want to be naked infront of strangers.

MauriceTheMussel · 17/06/2025 09:28

cryptide · 17/06/2025 09:20

No, you misunderstand a lot of dissenters on this thread. It’s not we don’t want to stare or have prolonged visuals. We don’t want to see it at all.

And, regardless, do you know how long it takes for the parade of cyclists to pass? Especially if there’s a red light? And they’re all whopping and blowing horns? We’re just supposed to stop still and stare at the floor?!

Also, this ride isn’t easy to avoid. I’ve lived in Central London for nearly 20 years. There aren’t huge signs. There’s no warning klaxon. People also cycle naked to and from the meeting points so you might be out of the way and see an arse crack etc at some random junction.

Lookingforwardto2025 · 17/06/2025 09:29

I saw it a couple of years ago and the cycling part had a mix of men and women. However once it was over and people were hanging around I couldn't help noticing that it was only the men I saw who stayed naked. I didn't see a single naked woman off a bike. I wasn't very comfortable with that aspect.

Looks like the law in Scotland is very similar, i.e. so long as there is no specific intent to cause distress or alarm, being naked in public is a lawful activity.

Was it you a couple of pages back laughing about knitting table leg covers? Apologies if not.

No, my apologies, your mind is far more elastic than I thought.

They are not doing it for body positivity at all.

It was done to shock, cause offence and because they think they’re being edgy

how the hell would you know?

I've taken part in it many times, always for body positivity. not to cause offence, but to get people (esp teenage girls) thinking differently about how you can love your body no matter what it looks like.
