Naked bike ride

Was in London yesterday: naked bike ride. Fine.. not my thing (or many other women). They finished the ride/protest/whatvever and then conjugated near B palace.. and just seemed to be happy wafting their micro penis’s about for kicks and giggles/

A lot of horrid middle aged naked men kicking about just felt unnecessary.

and 🤮

YANBU. I don’t know why it’s legal and why it’s not seen as indecent exposure.

Please don’t use the ‘survivors of Sexual Abuse’ card when you don’t know who you are interacting with.

It’s not a ‘card’ it’s a question. There are people on this very thread who have been upset by this. What is your answer? I see you mock people who don’t want to see public male nudity in one of your posts. Why would you do that?

DoctorRoseReturns · 16/06/2025 22:40

TheScentOfElonMusk · 16/06/2025 22:29

You think it’s disturbing that I think strangers being naked in the street in front of children is child abuse?

I’m okay with that.

I think it's worrying that you jumped to something there is literally no evidence of to use "child abuse" as a way to shut down argument

And there are other SA survivors who don't have an issue with seeing a penis in a public place. Don't speak for everyone.

DoctorRoseReturns · 16/06/2025 21:36

Again, what about people who start saying "I don't like seeing gay people" or "I think women should be fully covered up" or "I find it offensive to see men wearing shorts" ?

Do we have to start further restrictions because "someone out there doesn't like it"?

Again, it's not JUST MEN!

Lots of things can trigger people. Unfortunately, that's life. You can unexpectedly be triggered at any time. It can be a song that was playing at the time, the scent of someone's perfume or aftershave, a colour, a picture...

We can't protect everyone from everything that might trigger them or we'd never have anything.

So, you have no regard for the feelings of SA survivors who are distressed by the sight of totally unnecessary public male nudity.

Thanks for confirming.

We can't protect everyone from everything that might trigger them or we'd never have anything.

Funnily enough no one is suggesting that. Just the totally avoidable public male nudity.

You wouldn’t think it was such a big ask but apparently it’s an imperative despite the impact on others. And judging by the voting in this thread, we are in the majority.

Franpie · 16/06/2025 22:46

I see no problem with this event.

I also dont buy into the thought that there will be sexual deviants in amongst the riders.

I’ve been subjected to a flasher twice in my life and my teen DD once. On all those occasions, the flasher was alone, me or my DD were also alone. They sprang out from bushes or from behind a building to shock us. They got their kicks from making us feel vulnerable and shocked by their exposure. They alone need to be the one to shock us and make us feel that way. I doubt a fun, very public bike ride through central London alongside hundreds of other naked people would have the same effect for a flasher.

Statistically some of those who see no problem with the nudity will ALSO be survivors

It’s got nothing to do with nudity and naturism for me. It’s about defending freedom to engage in perfectly legal activities.

How do you know they are legal? If one of the men present has the intention to distress then it’s indecent exposure. Not legal.

How will you measure this? Psychometric tests for everyone taking part in the bike ride?

But if we restrict freedoms because "it might trigger someone" then someone triggered by the smell of Lynx Africa could start saying that should be banned and someone who is triggered by the song I Believe In a Thing Called love would want that banned and so on and so forth

There are threads on here where the poll will say one thing and the comments will say otherwise

14% of the UK identifies as Naturists, it's not a small figure

I am triggered by some songs by Queen. As in I feel shaky, and sick. If a pub I am in plays it... I leave the pub. I don't ask them to change the song, especially when someone has paid to have it on the jukebox.
My triggers are my responsibility to deal with.

I'm just pointing out the gap between the volume of content of posters who disagree compared the smaller volume of posters who disagree. That is interesting only in relation to this thread.

You keep throwing up these utterly irrelevant ‘facts’. SA survivors who are not bothered by male nudity are obviously not relevant to this conversation. There isn’t a SA survivor vote on the consensus of whether they are allowed to find male nudity triggering or not.

Some SA survivors are triggered by male nudity. What about their feelings? This public display of male nudity is totally optional and unnecessary. It is a pastime. But you have already confirmed you don’t care about those women. I’m not sure why you insist on reiterating that.

And yes I know that women are nudists too but a) they don’t have a penis and b) despite your unevidenced claims to the contrary are rarely perpetrators of sexual assault.

This happens on pretty much all AIBU threads with a poll. The poll says one thing, and the comments say another. It is not unusual at all.
People find it easier to vote than back up their opinion.

So you didn’t understand my comment.

I’m not suggesting that a wide range of random things be banned, just public (and totally unnecessary) male nudity. Why is that so hard for you?

This is my point. We have no way of knowing either way. And as indecent exposure is a serious crime that can escalate to murder (it’s a known pathway) do you think it is sensible to make it harder to prosecute by normalising public male nudity?

Was it you a couple of pages back laughing about knitting table leg covers? Apologies if not.
